- To support children and youth to build feelings of confidence, resiliency and develop necessary life skills as they mature and transition from childhood to adolescent hood to adulthood.
- To provide a program and an environment that works closely with children and youth, their families, and community-based support agencies in order to foster independence, reinforce positive behaviours, and promote success and positive outcomes.
- To provide a safe space of therapeutic support and housing stabilization for children and youth with complex support needs to enable them to grow as individuals to contribute to as members of the community.

Our unique programs, coupled with wraparound clinical support and trauma informed practices, focus on managing and shaping behaviour through utilizing best practices as well as building on the competencies and strengths of children and youth. This is achieved by building trusting relationships, by providing customized support, and by offering dynamic programming to meet the ever-changing needs of the children and youth we serve.

- **A Child and Youth Worker**_ is dedicated to maintaining and promoting the well-being, safety, and independence of each child/youth. This may include providing physical care, one-on-one support and supervision, meal preparation, medication administration, and documentation. They encourage children and youth to foster independence and develop individual skills, talents, and abilities while maintaining health & safety requirements. **Responsibilities**:

- Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for clients and provide individualized support to children/youth to function more independently in CYH homes and communities.
- Collect daily behavioural data relevant to the clients’ specific programs and goals.
- Accompany and/or transport individuals to various appointments and activities within the community such as medical appointments, school, employment or leisure activities.
- Provide one-on-one support to clients with daily life skills, social skills and /or behaviour management.
- Support and assist clients with daily activities such as hygiene, basic cooking, money management, shopping, and safety skills, etc.
- Ensure the safety of all clients in the residence, which may include crisis management and physical containments (if necessary).
- Assist the client in understanding their rights and responsibilities within CYH homes.
- Promote behavioural change and personal growth of clients who are having difficulties coping because of social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays.
- Implement client specific goals and ISP/BSP; teaching based on principals of ABA and other evidence-based practices
- Attend to the physical, emotional, and medical needs of clients in service, including administering medication to children/youth when needed.
- Implement physical, recreational, educational, social and vocational activities at the assigned location.
- Completing accurate daily documentation, record keeping, report writing, and abiding by all documentation procedures and protocols.
- Able to problem solve in crisis situations within the service principles of Chrysalis Youth Homes.
- Ensure health and safety standards, internal CYH protocols, and relevant legislation are consistently followed.
- Represent Chrysalis Youth Homes in a positive and professional manner at all times.
- Providing a safe and clean environment such as, but not limited to regular household duties needed for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the home.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 5 lbs.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education/community college or university degree at an Ontario recognized institution in a relevant discipline (CYW, DSW, SSW)or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
