The Kitchen Aide - Days is responsible for supporting the Kitchen Services team in the meal preparations by cooking, baking and assembling the food for delivery. Based on the highest hygiene standards, the Kitchen Aide - Days will be responsible for performing cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen and food preparation areas. Additionally, the Kitchen Aide - Days may provide fill-in support on behalf of the Chef, Cook, and/or Baker as needed

**Job Duties**

**Food Preparation and Presentation**
- Prepare, cook and serve breakfast based on the Chef’s set out the meal plan
- Prepare salads for the day, monitor and replenish the salad bar when items are low or bare
- Assist the Chef, Cook and/or Baker with the meal preparation and delivery by aiding in food preparation including washing, peeling, cutting, stirring and/or cooking, assisting with serving, preparing plates, monitoring steam tables and replenishing food levels

**Kitchen Operations**
- Participate in clean-up activities after meals including retrieving food, refreshments, plates, undressing tables, etc. from the dining rooms
- Perform daily cleaning of the kitchen, cooler, and storage room by washing, sanitizing, and sweeping.
- Monitor inventory of food and supplies and inform the Chef of products to be ordered, following first in first out (FIFO) rules
- Receive deliveries of supplies, check for quality and assist in storage activities
- Be an active member of the Kitchen Staff by communicating daily with the Chef, Cook and/or Baker regarding day-to-day foodservice operations, food preparation, efficiencies, faulty equipment, the requirement of tools and supplies needed within the kitchen and dining room areas
- Health, Safety and Environmental Stewardship_
- Participate and contribute to the success of the overall safety program
- Support and abide by all safety management systems and promote a safety culture throughout the organization
- Maintain a clean, sanitary and tidy work area at all times
- Respond to emergency situations as they arise providing appropriate follow-up and documentation as required
- Adhere to all manufacturer guidelines and safe work practices when using equipment
- Use Personal Protective Equipment and follow universal precautions
- Participate in worksite inspections, health & safety meetings and committees as required
- Contribute to the organization’s commitment to improving its impact on the environment through day-to-day operations and seeking innovative ways to be a greener organization

Undertake the performance of other assigned duties, including those specified on Job Task Lists, as required

**Requirements**:

- High School Diploma is preferred
- One (1) year of previous experience in housekeeping, custodial, dishwashing, etc. environment is preferred
- Completion of a current and acceptable criminal records check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory
- Attainment of a Food Safety Certificate is required
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and internet usage is required
- First Aid and CPR certification is required or must be attained soon after hire

**Hours**
- 6:30am - 3:00pm; 8 hours per shift
- 4 days on 4 days off rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays
