The Health Economist reports to the Principle Investigator or designate of research projects. The Health Economist is responsible for the design, conduct, and completion of health economics and health services research in cancer control. As required, the Health Economist provides assistance in the development of new cancer control initiatives by conducting and presenting economic analyses to inform policy-making and to further research in the area of health economics and health services.

**What you’ll do**
- Consistent with PHSA and BC Cancer policy and professional standards of practice, conduct quantitative health economics and health service research studies in collaboration with health care professionals within the BC Cancer, PHSA and its agencies, and other external partners.
- Develop, critique and execute economic analyses of health care programs through literature review and by collecting, linking and analyzing primary data, including qualitative data and stated preference data, and /or large administrative datasets to model outcomes from a clinical, population and budgetary perspective.
- Document the design, results, and interpretation of health economics, clinical, and health service research studies in scientific manuscripts and research reports for dissemination to researchers and internal and external partners. Prepare abstracts, posters and oral presentations for submission to scientific conferences. Contributes analytic data to knowledge transfer activities.

**What you bring**
- A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters’ Degree in Economics, Health Services, Health Policy or related discipline
- 1-2 years related experience in a healthcare or academic research environment.

You will also have:

- Knowledge of study design, data collection and analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced data manipulation, analysis and information presentation through the use of database and spreadsheet software.
- Working knowledge of cancer control and Canadian health systems.
- Ability to adapt to new technology.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
- Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
