The **Data Analyst** is responsible for organizing, compiling, aggregating and summarizing data both internally and externally. This role will take raw source data from both internal and external stakeholders and turn it into useable information to then build reporting and analytics. This role will additionally support ad hoc analysis, reporting, and inquiries. This role requires high degree of accuracy and attention to detail to create and extract meaningful insights and trends from data, which can be used to improve business processes, optimize performance, and drive strategic decision-making. This role will also act as a liaison between Subject Matter Experts and the external data team.
**Role Responsibilities**:
- Perform data analysis, mining, and modelling to create routine, complex ad-hoc and custom queries.
- Drive the collection and organization of new data from both internal and external sources.
- Responsible for data preparation, quality checks and data cleanliness to prepare selection populations and samples.
- Work with departments to establish and prioritize business and information needs; and make recommendations about the methods and ways in which a company obtains and analyses data to improve quality and the efficiency of data systems.
- Develop and produce reports upon request including dashboards and report visualizations.
- Develop complex SQL queries (Stored procedures, triggers) to retrieve, manipulate, and transform data from various sources especially GCP BigQuery.
- Data Extraction and Visualization - Query data and build data visualizations of varying degrees of complexity in tools like Tableau, Tableau Prep, SQL, and GCP.
- Extract, prepare, clean and process large amounts of data to support various data analyses and projects.
- Ensure the quality, accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of the data and reports available within the BI environment through meticulous testing, automated and manual data reviews, performance monitoring, contingency planning, consistency reviews, and other methods as appropriate.
- Support the BI end-users through training sessions, user guides, one-on-one consultations, advice, workshops, troubleshooting, downtime procedures, and issue resolution.
- Process change requests on existing data sets.
- Maintain integrity of data and report as well as reinforce confidentiality of research.
- Perform other duties as assigned
**Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements**:
- Minimum one to three (1-3+) years experience working with data, numbers, statistics, analytics or related experience.
- Post secondary degree or diploma required.
- Degree in Information Systems or Data Analytics preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in cloud computing (GCP BigQuery), data science with python and/or Visual Studio.
- Advanced proficiency in Tableau and Tableau Prep.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Advanced proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries for data extraction and manipulation (CTEs, stored procedures, triggers) and knowledge in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) Self-reliant exploring, extracting, analyzing, and presenting information with Excel (PivotTables, writing VBA code, etc.).
