**Student Security Guard - Conservation Lands (2 Positions)**

Each summer, the Grand River Conservation Areas welcomes visitors to enjoy camping, swimming, boating, tubing, fishing and hiking.

We are looking for energetic and responsible students that want to be part of our team connecting people to the environment through outdoor experiences. This is a great opportunity to meet new people, work outside in an inspiring setting and gain valuable work experience.

The student Security position reports to the Property Superintendent and has the responsibility of assisting with enforcement of policies and regulations within the GRCA conservation lands. This position provides a great experience if you are looking for a future career in law enforcement.

**Responsibilities**:
1. To regularly patrol the GRCA conservation lands, cottage lots, vacant residential buildings and passive land holdings as required and instructed to ensure public satisfaction and safety.

2. Enforce applicable GRCA policies and regulations on Authority property

3. Assist the Property Superintendent in situations where a second GRCA staff member is necessary i.e. enforcement, residential inspections, encampments.

4. Respond to complaints and provide good customer service.

5. Perform grounds and building maintenance such as garbage/recycling collection installation of signage.

6. Secure buildings.

7. Follow GRCA policies and procedures.

8. Wear / use all required personal protective equipment (PPE).

**Requirements**:
1. At least 18 years of age.

2. Currently enrolled as a full time student preferably in a Policing or Enforcement related discipline.

3. Possess the following by your first shift.

Private Security and Investigative Services Act License

First Aid and CPR certification.

A valid Ontario G or G2 Driver’s licence.

4. Familiarity with the Grand River Conservation Authority and park policies.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

6. Ability to keep accurate records.

7. Ability to work with minimum supervision.

**Work Period** May to Labour Day 2024

**Pay Range** $19.00 to $20.50 per hour/40 Hours per week

**Shift**: Monday to Friday (Core Hours)

**Location**: GRCA Admin. Centre, Cambridge
