Why is this role important?
- Under the direction of the Team Lead, Infrastructure Business Operations carries out the in-house processing of data and production of reports. They maintain data input flow, information output, security and integrity of raw data files; liaises with internal and external clients; and prepares files for dissemination.
- What you'll do
- 1. Receives and processes all data received electronically through CIHI’s electronic data submission services (eDSS) or SFTP.
- 2. Liaises with internal clients and external clients such as the Ministries of Health, facilities, Cancer Care Ontario, Statistics Canada etc.
- 3. Identifies production problems and communicate recommended solutions (e.g., facility not in the frame, incorrect filename etc.) to internal and external clients.
- 4. Prepares and distributes data files to the external clients including Ministries of Health, Statistics Canada, etc. according to the data provision schedule (i.e. monthly, quarterly, annually).
- 5. Performs data entry such as institution updates in eDSS Admin.
- 6. Handles data receipt, processing and dissemination.
- 7. Maintains a thorough understanding of CIHI data processing standards, tools and techniques, best practices and its underlying quality assurance principles and processes.
- 8. Maintains ongoing contact with the Team Lead and/or internal clients to ensure production deliverables are being met through standard operating procedures.
- 9. Attends and contributes to cross-functional team meetings where applicable.
- 10. Adheres to CIHI's data quality standards and performs quality checks and signoffs as required for data dissemination.
- 11. Coordinates vendor and hospital testing and maintains testing status in eDSS Admin. Ensures that submission files received through eDSS are processed in proper environments (vendor testing, hospital testing or production). Liaises with Coordinator, Vendor Support, Program Areas and other ITS teams.- 13. De-identify files containing Personal Health Information and re-identify them prior to disseminating the files to the external clients.
- 14. Edit and execute SAS scripts related by the Program Area as part of the preparation for file dissemination.
- What you'll bring to the table
- High school diploma plus one to two years of formal education in data processing.
- Two years previous computer operations experience.
- Good understanding of PC tools including Windows and MS Office.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve production problems.
- Ability to analyze, scope and resolve/triage all production problems to the appropriate IT technical support team.
- Ability to plan and manage workload effectively.
- Strong team player with a client orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas/processes in simple terminology.
- Fluency in both official languages is an asset.
- Basic knowledge in Python/R and SAS is an asset.
- Ability to work occasional evenings/weekends to provide support during heavy production periods.
