**Responsibilities**:
The Administrative Sergeant (CSPTED Coordinator) will provide operational support, supervision, management and leadership to the Patrol Sections of the Western Special Constable Service. The Administrative Sergeant will conduct CSPTED (Campus Safety Provided Through Environmental Design) assessments and reports with recommendations and supports the Building Access Control team in relation to building security and alarm systems assessments. The Administrative Sergeant will support Project Managers with recommendations and the implementation of safety and security measures in new builds and renovations of buildings and other spaces on campus and will oversee the deployment of CCTV security cameras, ensuring adherence to the Western University Policy on Video Monitoring and Recording Technology. The Administrative Sergeant will also provide back-up and operational support for the responsibilities of the Administrative Support Sergeant. The effective performance of these responsibilities will support the effective and efficient provision of safety and security services provided by Western Special Constable Services, significantly contributing towards the provision of the overall safety, security and well-being of our campus community.

**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Ontario Police College certification or equivalent Special Constable certification
- Preferred:_
- CPTED/CSPTED Certification or willingness and ability to obtain
- University Degree or Community College Diploma in a relevant field
- Public Policing Front Line Supervisors Course or equivalent Special Constables Supervisor Training
- Incident Response / Incident Management training
- Ontario Police College Major Case Management training
- Ontario Police College General Investigative Techniques training
- Human Resources Management training
- Experience:
- 5 years’ related experience in the public policing or special constable sector
- 3 years’ experience in supervisory role within the public policing or special constable sector
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of policing principles, crisis management, legal statutes, and related best practices
- Leadership skills to collaborate and coordinate with other campus partners, external agencies, and London Police Services regarding investigations
- Knowledge of best practices in building a strong collaborative team, leading people and of performance development methods
- Strong knowledge of cultural diversity and community makeup
- Leadership skills with the ability to inspire employees and develop a shared vision to lead a team to excellence
- At ease handling sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy, including solid negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Openness to recognize when change is necessary and to develop, implement and lead effective change management strategies
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
- Ability to deal confidentially with information that has legal, financial, political, regulatory, and reputational implications
- Innovative and flexible critical thinking skills to adjust to and implement new processes or technology to the University's advantage
- Ability to draw on diversity of skills, backgrounds and knowledge of people to achieve more effective results
- Ability to quickly re-allocate resources and adjust priorities in response to unexpected events or changing circumstances
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted and no criminal charges before the courts
- Valid Ontario driver's license
