**Job Title**: Summer Day Camp Counselor - Farm Adventures

**Job Type**: Contract, Part-time

**Location**: Dundas, ON

**Working Hours**: Daytime, Monday to Friday

**JOB SUMMARY**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- ** Camp Programming**: Plan and lead engaging activities and games for campers, incorporating themes related to agriculture, environmental conservation, and farm animals.
- ** Safety Oversight**: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, following established safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- ** Supervision**: Supervise campers during scheduled activities, meals, and free time, maintaining a positive and inclusive environment for all participants.
- ** Education**: Teach campers about sustainable farming practices, local ecosystems, and the importance of environmental stewardship through hands-on experiences and interactive lessons.
- ** Team Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with other camp staff to coordinate daily schedules, share resources, and support each other in providing a memorable camp experience.
- ** Behavior Management**: Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and resolve conflicts among campers.
- ** Communication**: Communicate regularly with camp leadership, parents/guardians, and fellow staff members to provide updates on camp activities, camper progress, and any concerns or incidents that arise.
- ** First Aid**: Administer basic first aid and respond appropriately to any medical concerns or emergencies that occur during camp hours.
- ** Camp Maintenance**:Assist with setting up and cleaning up camp facilities and equipment, ensuring a safe and organized environment for camp activities.
- ** Role Model**:Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating enthusiasm, respect for nature, and a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
- ** Outdoor Skills**: Teach campers basic outdoor skills such as gardening, nature exploration, and wilderness survival techniques in accordance with camp curriculum.
- ** Creativity**: Encourage campers to express their creativity through arts and crafts projects, storytelling, and imaginative play inspired by the farm environment.
- ** Community Engagement**: Foster a sense of community among campers by organizing group activities, team-building exercises, and opportunities for collaboration and friendship.
- ** Environmental Awareness**: Instill a sense of environmental awareness and appreciation in campers by modeling sustainable behaviors and teaching them about the interconnectedness of nature and agriculture.
- Additional duties as assigned

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Previous experience working with children in a camp, school, or recreational setting.
- Enthusiasm for outdoor activities and nature-based education.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Responsible, self-motivated, organized and able to work alone/unsupervised if necessary
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.

**PHYSICAL DEMANDS**:
This is a light-to-medium physically demanding position that occasionally requires assisting children, carrying bags or other objects (i.e. 20 lbs) and the ability to work on your feet all day and walk long distances over uneven terrain.

**WORK ENVIRONMENT**:
The Camp Counselor position offers a dynamic work environment set amidst our scenic farm landscape with direct access to Christie Lake Conservation Area. Surrounded by nature's beauty, counselors lead outdoor activities in fields, forests, and animal area sin all types of weather conditions. There is also some exposure to indoor farm facilities such as barns and workshops.
