**Qualifications**:

- English communication required; bilingualism is an asset.
- Must be able to work shifts (day, evening, night).
- Must have a current CPR certificate.
- Must have a recent (within the last 1 year) police check for the vulnerable sector.
- Must have a negative TB test from within the last 1 year.
- Must have a mobile device and access to the internet.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to monitor patients for extended periods of time.
- Ability to respond swiftly.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Must have a high degree of patience.
- Must be calm and respectful.
- Must be proficient with technology.

**Patient Sitter Expectations**:

- Sitters are expected to dress in a professional manner with identification badge
- Sitters are required to sit within the patients room
- Sitters are to be attentive and observe the patient at all times
- Sitters are permitted to read while the patient sleeps (no phones or tablets / ear buds)
- Sitters are required to report all concerns and/or observations as they occur to the patients assigned nurse
- Sitters are to communicate and converse with the patient
- Sitter are to never leave a patient unattended under any circumstances
- Sitter are not to engage in extended conversations with other patients
- Sitters are not to give advice to patients
- Sitters must maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
