**Position**:
Dietetics 1 and Management in Dietetics 2, which both include a laboratory component, plus the laboratories
instruction experience, and the extent to which teaching areas and instructional experience complement the
School’s needs. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to teach food-related courses and be able to
instruct and manage all aspects of food laboratories and quantity food production, including food safety,
equipment maintenance and procurement for the laboratories, with an emphasis on local food. For additional

**Academic Qualifications**:
Master’s degree in Nutrition (or a related field) and designation as a Registered Dietitian with a provincial
regulatory body are required. Current knowledge of the Integrated Competencies for Dietetic Education and
Practice. Version 3.0 (2020) is an asset.

The School of Nutrition and Dietetics has a long and distinguished history at Acadia. Since 1928, the School
has been graduating high-caliber individuals, well grounded in the art and science of nutrition, and equally
capable of obtaining work in the dietetic profession or continuing their studies in graduate school, education or
the health professions, such as medicine, physiotherapy, nursing and dentistry.

Students in this program build on a foundation of food and develop an appreciation for current issues in
nutrition and dietetics. The School is committed to supporting the development of students in centering equity,
diversity and inclusion, and to support Nutrition students as they transition into the workforce with the skills to

practice and promote cultural safety. Nutrition students gain solid knowledge in biology and chemistry which is
applied to studies of food and nutrient metabolism. This background, combined with courses in areas such as
communications, nutrition education, psychology and statistics, prepares students to work effectively with
individuals, families and communities to plan, develop and manage relevant nutrition programs.
