As a member of the Product Development team within the Research & Development department, the Product Development Scientist plays a key role in the discovery research, design, development and support of new bioLytical rapid point of care tests, with a focus on assay components, chemistry, formulations, and stability. This position reports to the Research and Development Manager.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE*
- Research and understand the role of proposed new products to be added to the bioLytical product portfolio and source important publications
- Establish feasibility of new products, with a focus on component chemistry, including reaching benchmarks for sensitivity, specificity, and stability.
- Research and provide input into the intended use and design requirements for new products
- Research, evaluate and implement process improvement methodology for manufacture and scale-up of INSTI components
- Research and identify suitable analytical methods required for characterization of raw materials, final product components and in-process control
- Design stability studies and coordinate personnel for study execution for determination of impact of new or modified formulations and/or chemical processes
- Prepare preliminary design specifications and draft design documentation
- Source raw materials from reputable vendors and assist in supplier qualification activities, as required
- Develop and test early concept designs
- Troubleshoot test results and design challenges as required
- Train, manage, and mentor Research Technicians and Associates
- Participate in risk management activities related with the product under development
- Analyze and summarize data and write reports including assisting with regulatory submissions
- Assist with providing and analyzing data for meta-analysis white papers and publishing of peer review papers
- Assist in other Research and Development or Product Support activities as required
- Assist with training of laboratory or other related personnel

**WHAT YOU BRING**
- PhD or a Master’s degree in a life sciences discipline (preferably chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, or related science) with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a research laboratory
- Experience with formulations development and knowledge of analytical methodology including UV, NMR, LC-MS, particle size analysis, and protein assay methods preferred
- Knowledge of or experience with GLP, GMP work desired
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral communication skills, and written communication skills are required
- Must be able to work independently following a brief period of specific technical training
- Must have strong analytical and technical writing skills
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office, Access, Excel)
- Organized and detail-oriented
