Reporting to the Senior Administrative Manager, the School Manager is a key member of the College/School leadership team and is responsible for overseeing, managing and streamlining all day-to-day non-academic functions of the College/School. They ensure efficient and effective management of the College’s/School’s general administration, academic administration, student support, financial management, human resources, and marketing and communication needs. The School Manager develops and implements systems and procedures at the College/School level to ensure compliance with University and Faculty/College policy, procedures, guidelines and reporting requirements. In collaboration with the School Director, Program Heads, the Faculty/College Dean’s office, and the office of the Vice-President - Academic, the School Manager is responsible for establishing and managing an effective framework of academic support for existing and new programs within the College/School. The School Manager ensures policies and procedures are adhered to, and that budgets are developed, monitored and managed effectively and in compliance with university policy. They will understand the complexity of managing the diversity and depth of multiple programs amid a fast-changing environment, including dealing with periods of high staff turnover and shortages. Working with the School Director, the Senior Administrative Manager and the Human Resources department, the School Manager directs all the human resource activities for the administrative staff within the College/School. The School Manager plays a lead role for the College/School with regards to marketing activities and communication strategies and maintains oversight for the academic accuracy of the corporate and College/School websites and collateral materials.

Within the framework of RRU’s Learning, Teaching and Research Model, the School Manager plays a key role creating and maintaining the conditions for optimum student learning in a supportive, caring environment.
- Job Requirements- An undergraduate degree or other relevant educational credential (college certificate or diploma) plus a minimum of 5-7 years of related progressive supervisory and management experience in the administration of academic programs (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, supervision, training, development and performance management
- Strong leadership capabilities and the ability to foster a cooperative work environment
- Experience developing, managing and reporting on budgets
- Experience with event planning and/or program coordination and/or project management
- Experience with office management practices, including developing, implementing and monitoring policy and procedures using a whole system approach to management
- Experience with contract coordination and administration
- Intermediate to advanced level computer skills using MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Agresso, WordPress and SharePoint
- Proven ability to develop, plan and implement short
- and long-range goals in administrative and personnel-related processes; comfortable being responsible for a wide variety of managerial functions
- Proven ability to exercise a high level of discretion for matters requiring sensitivity and confidentiality related to employee and student issues. Ability to ensure critical issues beyond the bounds of the position are escalated to a higher level for action and/or resolution in a timely manner
- Demonstrated understanding of change management and project management principles
- Experience working with social media, and web-site design and management is an asset
- Experience in continuing education and with adult learning principles is an asset
- Accounting skills are an asset
- Ability to work flexible hours on a pre-planned basis, including evening and weekend hours
- Ability to travel to domestic and international locations as required by program
- Additional Information- This is a temporary, full-time position working 37.5 hours per week for a term from June 26, 2023 until August 16, 2024. This position has been evaluated at MPT-C with a salary range of $74,204 (minimum) to $87,204 (midpoint) to $100,203 (maximum) per annum. Employment offers will normally be made between the minimum and midpoint of the range and are determined by knowledge, experience and internal equity.
