**Job Description**:
We are looking for an Associate Manager to lead the Asset Liability Management (ALM) Systems team.
Asset Liability Management (ALM) is an integral team within the Canadian operations that has responsibility for many items. Examples include establishing investment strategies, managing ALM risks (e.g. interest rate, asset mix and liquidity), supporting income and Par yield reporting, and IFRS 9/17 implementation.
This role leads the ALM Systems team whose main responsibility is ensuring data integrity and system reliability for use across the Investment Division in support of managing ALM risks. The key objectives of the role are leading ongoing data integrity, system upgrades and process innovation. This is an ever-evolving, dynamic space supporting key ALM functions and other Investment Division teams with data that is vital to Canada Life’s success.
As the leader of this team, you will work closely with others across ALM and the Investment Division, particularly with Investment Technology and will provide leadership to a team of 1 to 2 individuals. You will bring a keen eye for problem-solving and analytical ability and will be rewarded with engaging projects and exposure to various stakeholders.
**What you will do**
- **_ Integrity of the Investment Data Store (IDS) and the Canadian Asset/Liability Management (CALM) system: _**Design, monitor, and implement checks for validation of data (e.g. asset attributes, asset cashflows, liability cashflows) to ensure completeness and accuracy. Ownership of CALM daily/weekly/monthly programs alongside Investment Technology. Support future enhancements to IDS/CALM as the demand for data and scope of ALM risks evolve.
- **_Technical support and education: _**Support key ALM processes by providing technical support via troubleshooting and training others. Provide data/system education to ALM.
- **_Testing and implementation of new systems/upgrades:_** Represent ALM and IDS/CALM during implementation of new administrative systems or upgrades to existing systems.
- **_ Deliver multi-period reporting: _**Ownership of various reports supporting key Investment Division functions. Includes delivering automated solutions.
- **_ ALM best practices and continuous improvement:_** Promote continuous improvement throughout the design, execution, and documentation of deliverables, ensuring that efficiency and quality are paramount.
- **_Leadership: _**provide leadership and professional development support for a team of 1 to 2 individuals.
**What you will bring**
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information to an audience-level understanding
- Ability to work in a team environment and provide leadership to others - past leadership experience is preferred
- Strength in managing competing and demanding stakeholder expectations with an ability to partner and influence across diverse audiences
- Computer skills particularly in Excel, Access, and SQL (or other similar querying languages) - experience with Canada Life (GWL) Mainframe is an asset
- Mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, work within timeframes/deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to continuous improvement and appropriate controls
- Post-secondary education with a background in finance, management information systems, actuarial science, or accounting
