- Rehabilitation Assistant (Temporary Full -Time) - Extendicare, Michener Hill

Temporary Part-Time 6-months, 1.0 FTE

Under the direction of Occupational Therapist and Physiotherapist, the Rehabilitation Assistant will oversee the therapy programs and Rehabilitation Aide. The Rehabilitation Assistant will maintain department statistics, records, and documents as assigned. The Rehabilitation Assistant will assist the therapist as directed with AADL orders, equipment trials, and resident treatments.

RESPONSIBILITIESAssist resident participation in planned programs which include restorative care, positioning, ambulation, physical functioning and activities of daily living.-
- Facilitates procurement of mobility aides/slings/commodes for residents and families with the support of OT/PT and our vendors.-
- Support/provides education on lifts and transfer within the Home.-
- Conducts audits on lifts and transfers and provide teachable moments to those as needed.-
- Maintains department records, equipment records, clerical information, inventory control and monthly statistics as required.-
- Monitors and stocks all Rehabilitation equipment in the Home.-
- Participates in the evaluation of care and service provided by the Nursing department to residents in the Home.-
- Performs all duties in a safe and efficient manner and maintains work area clean and orderly.-
- Adheres to infection control procedures and follows provincial WS&H guidelines/regulations.-
- Participate in team huddles, interdisciplinary care reviews, committees and meeting as required.-
- Adheres to Standard of Employee Conduct and Resident Bill of Rights.-
- Responsible for the development and upgrading of his/her knowledge and skills.QUALIFICATIONS- One (1) year experience preferably in a long-term care setting.-
- Experience in assessing therapeutic needs, development, implementation and evaluation of the therapeutic programs.-
- Recognized Diploma in Therapy Assistant (OT and/or PT)-
- Preference will be given to Rehabilitation Assistant Certificate and Health Care Aide Certificate and appropriate medical/rehabilitation professional experience. Other appropriate certificates or degrees may be considered.-
- Demonstrates concern and interest in providing quality care to residents.-
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.-
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision and complete tasks in a timely manner.-
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with other staff, residents, families and the public both in written and oral form.-
- Mentally and physically able to perform responsibilities as outlined.-
- Current (within 3 months) Criminal Record Check & Adult Abuse.Salary and benefits will base on the collective agreement.
