Security Analyst

**Job Overview**:
Reporting to the Head of IT, the Security Analyst is primarily focused on improving the firm’s overall cybersecurity posture/readiness and overseeing the timely completion of department initiatives. This role is expected to advance projects and facilitate effective communication for a small team of IT professionals while contributing to the secure operation and support of mission critical systems and services.
**Responsibilities**:
- Establish and enforce cybersecurity strategies, policies, and procedures to protect the firm’s information systems and data
- Implement and manage security controls to reduce identified risks based on their impact and likelihood
- Track controls effectiveness and overall cybersecurity performance against a common framework, and recommending adjustments as necessary
- Align security initiatives with business objectives and comply with relevant regulations and standards
- Report on the firm’s security posture, highlighting top risks and improvements made
- Prepare and drill response plans for potential security incidents, including failover and recovery options
- Lead the IT team in responding to security incidents, including investigation, containment, and remediation.
- Design and lead complex projects that include risk assessment, impact analysis, rollback planning, process evaluations and recommendations for action.
- Foster strong relationships with our security partners, vendors, and service providers
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems
- Create and maintain technical documents and supporting knowledge base
- Configure and maintain physical/virtualized/cloud infrastructure, telecom services, and network LAN, WAN & Wi-Fi
- Assist with disaster recovery planning and failover procedures
- Assist with overflow and relief support services to ensure problems are resolved in a timely manner with limited disruptions
**Qualifications**
- 3-5 years of experience in a cybersecurity role with at least 5 years of network, virtualization, and system administration experience or equivalent work experience in a Microsoft environment
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Proficiency in identity and access management, network security, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and PKI/encryption technologies.
- Working competency of the Microsoft domain environment, cloud (Azure) administration and security, and virtualization (VMware) technologies
- Proactive team player with strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Proven project management expertise with strong strategic planning and risk management skills
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple demands and deadlines in a high-pressure environment
**Working Conditions**
- Downtown Calgary location with regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm
- Evenings and weekends to meet project deadlines as required
- After-hours responsiveness and paid on-call rotation
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
