**Job Summary**:
The Prevention Services Representative provides information and explanation to various stakeholders regarding related occupational safety and health legislation, standards, guidelines, and prevention services. The incumbent gathers information over the telephone, electronically and in person to assess each inquiry, responds with high levels of customer service to resolve or escalate the inquiry and helps coordinate SAFE Work workshop activities.

**Job Duties**:
Assesses and responds to employer needs and/or requests for further assistance from SAFE Work, makes appropriate referral(s) as needed.

Assesses information received to identify unsafe work practices, makes the appropriate referral(s).

Enters workshop schedule and location information into electronic training system, maintains participant information, monitors inventory of workshop training material and reorders as needed.

Acts as the primary point of contact for customers coming to the SAFE Work office. Responds to questions related to prevention services and requirements under a wide range of occupational safety and health legislation (Acts, Regulations, Codes), greets workshop attendees and other visitors.

Provides assistance with navigation of the SAFE Work website and provides awareness of SAFE Work prevention information and resources available to aid with development and maintenance of safety and health systems at Manitoba workplaces.

Provides assistance to employers inquiring about registering for online SAFE Work report access.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
Completion of a one (1) year certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or related

Knowledge of hazard recognition and controls, and prevention and safety management systems

Proficiency in the use of a personal computer in a Windows environment

Typing speed 35 wpm (error rate less than 5%)

Ability to perform accurate and detailed work

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing

Ability to provide excellent customer service, in sometimes confrontational situations

Ability to organize and prioritize workload

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

**Additional Information**:
Ability to communicate proficiently in both official languages (English & French) is an asset.
