**Job Summary**:
Reporting to the Senior Lead, Environment, the Lead, Environment is primarily responsible for project development activities related to the planning and coordination of environmental assessment studies, including: environmental data collection and analysis, ensuring the project is appropriately prepared to initiate and successfully complete a major regulatory approval process (EA/IA) and the permitting process for resuming construction of the access road. The role includes collaboration and multidisciplinary efforts with the Project Team to integrate environmental data and criteria into engineering study and design, mine planning, and design for closure. Responsibilities include identification, management and mitigation of environmental and regulatory risk, leading continuous improvement efforts in environmental performance, and supporting the effort to ensure the project is appropriately prepared to successfully complete an EA/IA process.

**Overview**:
The position will be based out the Vancouver office, with travel between Smithers and Vancouver, local communities, and the Project site as required.

Located in Tahltan Territory in northwestern British Columbia, Galore Creek is one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper-gold-silver deposits. Galore Creek Mining Corporation (GCMC), a partnership between Newmont Corporation (Newmont) and Teck Resources Limited (Teck), is committed to advancing the asset towards a development decision with meaningful input from the Tahltan Nation and BC regulators. GCMC highly values its long-standing relationship with the Tahltan Nation, and continues to implement the 2006 Participation Agreement, including involving the Tahltan Nation in regulatory processes and review of environmental performance, and providing preferential contracting and employment opportunities. Working closely with the Tahltan Nation and local communities, we strive for excellence in all our activities, with continuous improvement and responsible practices that contribute to sustainable development.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, leading by example and fostering a proactive safety and sustainability culture based on common values of health, safety, environment, and communities (HSEC) shared by the owners (Teck and Newmont).
- Working closely with the Senior Lead, Environment, lead the design and implementation of safe, cost effective, and stage-appropriate collection and analysis of environmental baseline data, and the management of a high-quality database for environmental data for the Project. Collaborate across the Project Team to support the integration of environmental data into engineering design to reduce and mitigate potential environmental impacts.
- Support the Supervisor Environmental Performance and the site team to manage risks related to regulatory compliance. Support the Supervisor Environmental Performance to identify continuous improvement opportunities related to environmental performance and ensure continued site environmental compliance, including during the anticipated access construction activities.
- Support the Senior Lead, Environment in advancing collaborative multidisciplinary efforts to ensure that engineering study and design appropriately integrates Design for Closure concepts, and that Closure Planning is appropriately updated for project stage in alignment with owner requirements, ensuring appropriate Tahltan involvement and appropriate integration of traditional land use information, cultural heritage, and Indigenous Peoples knowledge, in particular Tahltan knowledge.
- Support the implementation of the GCMC sustainability strategy, building upon the owners’ (Teck and Newmont) policies, standards and commitments. Plan for, achieve, and report on progress against objectives. Promote the company’s commitment to sustainability, the environment and health and safety; lead by example, and demonstrate honesty, sincerity, and openness to feedback.
- Collaborate with senior Project Team members to develop and deliver public-facing messaging and communications for the Project, including representing the company at external events. Contribute to the development and implementation of external communications as the Project commences a feasibility study and enters a phase of increased Indigenous Peoples and COI engagement and growing public interest.
- Foster a culture of open communication, build relationships across the GCMC organization and externally.
