Production Team Leader

**Primary Function**

In a Tier 1 automotive production environment, the Production Team Leader is an individual who sees where priorities need to be directed in order to minimize the downtime of assembly equipment and to bring any quality issues to the attention of the supervisor or quality assurance personnel. The team leader is a person who can look ahead and plan for replenishment of material / components before the line comes to a stop.

He/she is also a person that has technical skills and can address small line stoppage issues with access to menus which are not accessible to the line operator. He/she is the person who informs the supervisor, quality assurance personal or maintenance if something is abnormal.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Resets faults at different stations of the assembly line and monitors outcome (alerts supervisor if issue repeats).
- Brings any abnormal conditions related to the assembly line, component quality or final product quality to the attention of the supervisor, maintenance, quality assurance or management.
- Able to operate all stations on an assembly line.
- Assists in recording of production data if required.
- Assists in the pre-shift activities such as preparing the line for production start.
- Brings any safety or environmental related issue to the attention of the supervisor or a member of the health and safety committee.
- Assists or co-ordinates material handling tasks relating to components and finished product with the material handler to avoid any stoppage of the production line.
- Brings any production line operator concerns to the attention of the supervisor.

9. Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

**Qualifications**:
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an automotive T1 environment preferably in a metal components production or automotive assembly operation.

2. Good communication skills able to communicate issues in writing and oral.

3. Ability to monitor progress during shift and take corrective action when required to meet production standards.

4. Familiar with basic assembly processes (component loading, fastening, basic pneumatics/hydraulic concepts) such as to effectively instruct line operators with the most efficient use of machines and tools.

5. Able to work in a team environment.

6. Trouble shooter, finding solutions and suggestions to keep production running.

7. Familiar with ISO/TS/IATF systems and automotive standards.
