**We are looking for a Youth Mental Health Worker in our MOBYSS Program**

**Permanent**: Full-time, 35 Hours per week. Occasional weekend and / or evening hours may be required.

**Closing Date**: February 6, 2024

**Job Profile**:
The Youth Mental Health Worker is responsible for connecting with and evaluating mental health and related issues with youth, other community professionals, and for the general public. In collaboration with the team, the Youth Mental Health Worker uses empowerment and Recovery-oriented approaches with individuals and groups to help combat stigma, raise self-esteem and mastery, improve self-concept, and instill hope.

In addition to compliance with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, demonstrate competence in effective communication and team building, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a collaborative environment, and demonstrate confidence in decision-making and in building relationships.

**Requirements**:

- Degree or diploma in education, social services or health is preferred however significant position-related work experience is considered for equivalency.
- Current registration with a regulatory body
- Minimum three years working with youth and minimum three years of experience in the mental health field.
- Minimum two years’ experience in public speaking/presentation/workshop delivery.
- Training and education in adolescent development and mental health, education, group work, program planning and evaluation, community facilitation and development.
- Extensive knowledge of supports and services in York Region and South Simcoe.
- Ability to assess risk to individuals and take informed action in crisis situations
- Ability to prioritize needs and organize work efficiently
- Aptitude in developing innovative approaches to service delivery
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- **A second language (Cantonese, Farsi, Italian, Korean, Mandarin, Punjabi, Russian, Tamil, Urdu) reflecting the local community is preferred.**:

- Excellent problem-solving and decision making skills
- Proficiency with various forms of presentation media
- Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, mental health reform principles, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirements
- Valid Canadian driver’s license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)
