**What is the opportunity?**

We are looking for an engaged and dynamic full-time Research Associate.

The primary role of the Research Associate is to identify, assess, invite, and liaise with speakers to all Lancaster House conferences, workshops, skills training sessions and webinars. The Research Associate also researches and identifies important developments and topics of interest for conference panels and workshops, edits marketing materials, and analyzes competing conferences.

The Research Associate works in partnership with a Senior Research Associate and in close collaboration with Lancaster House’s program lawyers and conference director.

**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Identifies, interviews, assesses, invites, and liaises with speakers to all Lancaster House conferences (in-person and virtual), webinars, workshops, professional development programs, and skills training sessions
- Builds and maintains relationships with experts, past speakers and potential speakers, and leading organizations in relevant areas
- Researches and identifies important developments and topics of interest for conference panels and workshops
- Develops ideas for conference programs and topics, based on existing knowledge and additional research of mainstream and trade/academic media, case law, and legislative developments
- Provides insights into descriptions and titles for conference panels, workshops, and skills training sessions
- Proofreads marketing material aimed at a professional audience
- Reviews and analyzes competing conferences
- Researches ways to make conferences more interactive
- Attends Lancaster House live conferences, monitors sessions to ensure conference is running smoothly, thanks speakers, discusses any problems with co-chairs, etc.
- Participates in topic development and planning calls with co-chairs and speakers
- Maintains a database of speakers

**Qualifications/Skills**:

- Master’s degree preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong critical thinking and project management skills
- Superior web research skills
- Manage multiple competing priorities, and work with mínimal supervision
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- High level of comfort with holding telephone and Zoom conversations with strangers
- Good judgment, tact, and sensitivity to the opinions and needs of diverse, sometimes competing groups
- Ability to identify and analyze current trends and emerging developments in areas of labour and employment law, human rights law, and labour relations
- Ability to interview leading practitioners and notable experts in the field
- Knowledge of labour law, employment law, or human rights law, will be considered an asset

**Compensation**:
The salary range for this position is $50,000-$75,000. The starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. A generous benefits package is provided.
