**Title: Communications Assistant**
Reports to: Communications Lead
Location: Kingston, ON
Position Type: Full-time 1-year Contract, 37.5 hours/week
Start Date: As soon as possible
**Salary**: $45,006 - $52,942, annually
**Position Summary**
Working closely with the Communications Lead, the Communications Assistant supports the communications function at KCHC. The Communications Assistant also monitors and supports social media and website engagement and presence for KCHC and its programs; supports consistent branding standards, particularly related to flyers and other communications with an external focus; assists with board support; and other tasks as required.
**Key Responsibilities - Detailed Responsibilities**
**Internal Communications & Engagement**
- Prepare and assist with presentations, meeting agendas and minutes.
- Support the development and implementation of staff engagement strategies.
**External Communications & Engagement**
- Review and update flyers and forms to support branding consistency using clear and inclusive language principles.
- Support the development and implementation of community and partner engagement strategies.
**Additional Communication Responsibilities**
- Support completion of reports, promotional materials, and documents.
- With guidance from the supervisor or delegate, support the successful completion of recurring and one-time communications events.
- Support development of media releases and other communications materials and disseminate to various audiences/outlets as directed by supervisor.
**Administrative**
- Providing administrative support for KCHC communications activities in order to ensure release of high-quality materials.
- Support processes related to communications improvements (e.g., website, social media, screen-based promotions, and print materials).
- On occasion, support organizational communication needs.
- Ensure communications are congruent with EDIIA principles.
**Board Support**
- Support creation of agendas and minutes.
- Support coordination and planning of meetings.
- Support creation of the Annual Report.
- Provide assistance in planning and delivery of the Annual General Meeting.
- Assist with board events/functions such as recruitment, orientation, policy and by-laws, membership communications, etc.
**Organizational Responsibilities**
- Complies with all relevant legislation and KCHC policies, including privacy laws.
- Commits to acquiring an understanding of the importance of trauma responsiveness and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
- Commits to demonstrating an ongoing commitment to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Indigenization and Accessibility (EDIIA) by representing the diverse nature of our communities, promoting, and practicing inclusion.
- Supports KCHC’s student and volunteer placement programs.
- Promotes awareness of and participation in KCHC activities.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
- On occasion, perform other temporary duties as required.
**Basic Education and Experience Requirements**
- Relevant post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Digital Media).
- Minimum one year of work experience demonstrating skills that can be directly applied to the position.
- Willingness to become familiar with KCHC, its programs and current communications activities, particularly KCHC staff newsletter, and KCHC social media platforms.
- Experience updating websites and using social media as a communications tool. Experience with media relations and/or photography, an asset.
- Experience developing press releases and other communications materials preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**
- Self-starter with evidence of high levels of organization, attention to detail, and time management
- Experience with graphic design, layout, clear language, and infographics, an asset.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate well in a team-based environment.
- Excellent written and digital communication skills. French language is an asset.
- Competence with MS Office programs, including Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to use other communication tools/platforms, including WordPress an asset.
- Awareness of, and ability to support, provincial and federal privacy regulations and KCHC policies.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.
