**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is looking for an Employee Wellness Advisor. This position will be responsible for assisting in the administration of the Disability Management program and the first point of contact for client departments, faculties and staff.

The Employee Wellness Advisor will also assist with Mental Health related to resource referrals, education and awareness training in the field of mental health, and coaching in effective response to those experiencing crisis and mental health problems.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Bachelor degree required.
- At least (1) years of directly related experience including mental health related experience in service delivery, disability case management and administrative functions required.
- Experience in return-to-work programs, policy development, strategic planning, implementation and coordination of wellness and mental health initiatives is required.
- Experience effectively supporting people experiencing mental health problems and crisis required.
- Experience in public speaking, advocacy, report writing, event planning, and developing & facilitating educational workshops is required.
- Experience in identifying and developing partnerships to pursue new initiatives and secure funding or resources is highly desired.
- Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
- A working knowledge of current case law regarding duty to accommodate, provision of medical information, Human Rights and protection of privacy.
- Knowledge of workplace psychological health and safety, addictions, and suicide prevention literature and best practices.
- Knowledge of the mental health and addictions systems within Winnipeg and Manitoba, including crisis response services.
- Knowledge of Post-Secondary Education workplace “culture” and diverse employee mental health needs.
- Knowledge of best practices in the area of strategy implementation and coordination both at broad and task-specific levels.
- Knowledge of applicable standards for professional ethics and privacy legislation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology/issues and injury/illness recovery norms.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Excellent leadership skills including the ability to communicate effectively in conversation and writing with a broad range of people in a supportive environment required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suites and other software’s required.
- Strong political and institutional acumen, with the ability to build relationships with students, staff and faculty, and influence without direct authority required.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well under stress are essential.
- Strong multi-tasking, strategic coordination, planning, and organization skills are essential.
- Demonstrated skills as a dynamic speaker and facilitator.
- Skills and experience in determining needs, developing program objectives and goals, researching best practices, and evaluating program effectiveness.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and lead or support new projects toward completion of a goal required.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualize at systems and institutional levels required.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex information required.
- Demonstrated ability to organize workload independently in a client-focused environment required.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain, assess, evaluate and rationalize to support case management decisions required.
- Demonstrated ability to a high level of commitment to the University of Manitoba community and to the mission of promoting mental health and wellness of faculty and staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team required.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of personal information gathered or disclosed by others required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
