**Job Overview**:
The Truck Shop Service Advisor is responsible for managing customer relationships in a truck repair or service shop environment. This role involves guiding customers through the service process, from diagnosing issues to recommending necessary repairs or maintenance for light and heavy-duty trucks. The Service Advisor serves as the primary point of contact between the customer and the technicians, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, within budget, and to the customer's satisfaction.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Greet customers and identify their service needs by conducting thorough vehicle inspections or reviewing their concerns regarding their trucks.
- Accurately document and assess the issues reported by the customer, and relay this information clearly to the service team.
- Provide customers with detailed estimates, including labor costs, parts, and any other applicable fees for the truck repairs or services.
- Recommend necessary maintenance or repairs based on the manufacturer’s guidelines or inspection findings, and educate customers on the importance of preventive maintenance.
- Prepare and present detailed service orders, ensuring that all necessary details about the truck’s condition and work requirements are accurately recorded.
- Advise customers on potential upgrades or additional services that could improve the performance, safety, or longevity of their trucks.
- Monitor the progress of service work, keeping customers informed about the status of their vehicles and any changes in the timeline or cost estimates.
- Communicate effectively with service technicians to ensure a clear understanding of the required work, and address any concerns or issues as they arise during repairs.
- Handle customer inquiries and complaints professionally, aiming for quick and effective resolution to maintain high satisfaction levels.
- Ensure that customers approve any additional work or costs before proceeding beyond the initial service estimate.
- Provide transparent and clear explanations of completed work, ensuring that customers fully understand the services provided and any maintenance recommendations.
- Finalize the billing process, ensuring accuracy in pricing and charges, and process payments via the appropriate methods.
- Maintain and organize service records, including vehicle service history, customer interactions, and technician notes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, truck technology, and mechanical service best practices to provide knowledgeable guidance to customers and the service team.
- Promote the shop's maintenance plans, warranties, and loyalty programs to increase repeat business and customer retention.
- Assist in managing inventory levels for parts and tools used in truck repairs, ensuring the shop is stocked with necessary supplies.

**Skills and Qualifications**:

- Proven experience as a Service Advisor, Truck Service Advisor, or in a similar role within the trucking or automotive service industry.
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty trucks, including engine systems, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Ability to explain complex mechanical issues in simple terms to customers with varying levels of technical understanding.
- Excellent customer service skills, with a focus on building relationships and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple service orders and customer inquiries at once.
- Proficient with service scheduling software, diagnostic tools, and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
- Ability to handle difficult situations with professionalism, patience, and a solution-oriented attitude.
- Solid understanding of industry regulations, safety standards, and warranty protocols for truck services and repairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; formal training or certifications in automotive or truck maintenance preferred.

**Working Conditions**:

- Based in a truck shop or service center with exposure to a workshop or garage environment.
- Occasional time spent outdoors for vehicle inspections or to assist in moving trucks.
- May require extended hours, including weekends or holidays, depending on shop hours of operation.

**Physical Requirements**:

- Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting customers and overseeing service orders.
- Occasional lifting of parts or tools (up to 50 lbs) and moving of trucks in the service area.

The Truck Shop Service Advisor is integral to ensuring the smooth operation of the service department, facilitating clear communication between customers and technicians, and ensuring that heavy-duty trucks are serviced efficiently and to high-quality standards.
