**Full-Time Financial Services Supervisor**

**Effective Immediately**

Reporting to the Manager of Finance, the Financial Services Supervisor plays a key role in managing all operational and administrative financial functions related to internal and external controls and reporting requirements. The Financial Services Supervisor is responsible for the direct supervision of the payroll, accounts payable and revenue-accounts receivable functions. This position is the primary contact and support to school administrative staff with regards to coding, budget and school generated funds administration and reporting. The Financial Services Supervisor is also responsible for collaborating with the Manager of Finance in determining department goals and objectives alongside department team members, and for providing support(s) and development opportunities within the department and in collaboration with other departments to reach goals and objectives, as well as monitoring progress.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for ensuring proper controls and procedures are maintained in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Board (PSAB) standards. Including the day-to-day monitoring of financial controls and implementation of new financial policies, procedures and administrative guidelines.
- Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Board’s general ledger by verifying and correcting inaccurate budget and general ledger account codes, reviewing budget transactions and control totals, as well as the review and/or completion of budget and payroll interfaces.
- Direct supervision and responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the payroll function including annual payroll calendars, updating tax tables and other required deductions, as well as the preparation and completion of T4s and T4As.
- Direct supervision of the accounts payable and receivable functions.
- Assist with the completion of the Ministry Financial Statements, March Report and Budget submissions including supporting documentation and working papers.
- Direct supervision and oversight of staff within the payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.

**Qualifications and Skills***:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Five years of experience in a senior/supervisory accounting position, including experience overseeing the payroll function.
- Previous experience in an educational, municipal or other public sector financial environment would be an asset
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or progress towards a CPA designation would be an asset.
- Certificate in either Certified Payroll Manager or Payroll Compliance Practitioner would be an asset.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills with experience in the effective management of multiple projects and demonstrated ability to successfully complete tasks and meet department and board goals aligned to the multi-year strategic plan
- Demonstrate personal initiative, sound judgement, strong interpersonal, organization, and communication skills with the ability to function effectively and collaboratively with various employee groups and external contacts
- Detailed understanding of various accounting principles and standards.
- Hands on experience with accounting and payroll software
- Strong and effective verbal and communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical skills with an attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.,
