- The Latin American Network at McMaster University (LANMU) was launched in the summer of 2021 by faculty, staff, and students with various ties to Latin America. LANMU strives to celebrate and empower the Latin American community at McMaster University, strengthen interdisciplinary teaching in Latin American/Latinx Studies and expand research opportunities by Latin American/Latinx students and scholars. _
- The Latin American/Latinx Student Mentorship Program (LALSMP) is a new initiative committed to enhancing the student experience of Latin American/Latinx students during their time at McMaster. This mentorship program offers academic and professional support to international and domestic students alike, through community-building, discipline
- and field-specific assistance, as well as through creating and promoting professional, academic, and social events and programming. The mentorship program will consist of a three-tier system involving undergraduate students, graduate students, and LANMU faculty/staff._

**Job Summary**:
The Project Support Assistant r will work under the supervision the Latin American/Latinx Student Mentorship Program (LALSMP) Co-Director and other LANMU members to provide administrative support in creating and implementing the program. The Project Support Assistant will work alongside campus partners to establish and entrench the LASLMP as well as liaise with mentees and mentors.

**Accountabilities**:

- Update records by entering data into spreadsheets or databases.
- Conduct database, literature, library and web searches to locate documents and articles used for references on the project.
- Copy, collate and assemble a variety of documents and packages.
- Collect, maintain and organize hardcopy and/or electronic records/files.
- Assist with other related duties to contribute to the overall operation of the conference or event.
- Answer routine inquiries regarding specific to a project, conference or event.
- Perform other clerical duties of a similar nature, specific to a project, conference or event.

**Qualifications**:
Education: Registered in a graduate program at McMaster University

Experience: Not required.

- _Strong background/experience in issues including, but not limited to, student mentorship, student success and issues that Latin American/Latinx students encounter in their university experience._
- _Experience with community outreach, mentorship and/or equity activities._
- _Strong written communication skills, research skills, and organizational skills._
- _Proven ability to work independently and in team environments._

**Additional Information**:

- _Consult with campus and community partners in the implementation of student mentorship programs._
- _Assist in the recruitment process for program._
- _Provide verbal and written feedback to supervisors._
- _Oversee day-to-day administration and operations of mentorship program_
- _Supervise student mentors_
