**Salary**: $32-$35 per hour

**The opportunity**

This role will serve our yards across the Southern Island.

**The details**
- Effectively and safely operate heavy equipment as part of a team and use machine-specific controls and machine attachments to complete all necessary tasks
- Operate machinery in crowded, fast-paced, uneven working environments and exercise extreme caution with awareness of potential situational hazards to ensure site safety
- Confidently interpret verbal and non-verbal communication, including hand signals, from operators, ground personnel and swampers, and able to act accordingly
- Perform mechanical inspections and servicing, including controls and operations, complete logbooks, perform maintenance and adjustments, and perform machine lubrication
- Effective operation of equipment by recognizing unusual machine movements and sounds
- Recognize existing and potential hazards and identify these via field level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards, and assessing any tasks before start

**What you bring**
- 3+ years’ experience operating excavator or other heavy machinery
- Prior experience on rock trucks, bulldozers or compactors will be considered an asset
- Must have high school diploma or GED
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong, clear communication skill
- Understanding of aggregate or a willingness to learn
- Proven ability to work with shifting priorities and manage time effectively
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
