Position Summary
**Specific duties include but are not limited to**:
Installing, configuring, and maintaining operating systems in both physical and virtual environments, including but not limited to Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, and Solaris. This includes troubleshooting, optimizing and ensuring operating systems are up to date as required.
Installing, configuring and maintaining VMWare server virtualization; provides optimization, and upgrade as required
Monitoring and analyzing server performance and utilization to proactively take corrective action as required.
Assisting the Senior Server Specialist and/or Supervisor in developing, enhancing and testing new or existing server resources by conducting feasibility studies, detailed project plans, proposals and assists in the development of RFP’s.
Performing difficult and complex system administration duties with guidance from the Senior Server Specialist
Providing guidance to helpdesk staff in troubleshooting procedures and testing methodologies for server, network and workstation environments
Developing network utility software/scripts to provide enhanced network control or automation
Developing server utility software/ scripts to provide more comprehensive, automated system maintenance and control.
Using various programming and scripting languages to support the College systems.

Minimum of three (3) years
Type of Experience
More than three years of practical experience in the Information Technology field including progressive experience installing, administering, supporting, troubleshooting, tuning and testing Unix and Windows servers, as well as workstations. Experience working in a complex multi*vendor environment with exposure to as many of the operating systems and computer / network equipment as possible.
