**OVERVIEW**

The successful individual will have extensive experience in the operational execution of environmental projects and programs inclusive of liability management and biophysical programs routinely executed in the environmental consulting industry. Evaluation and assessment of existing process and support services (both technical and non-technical) and implementation of improvement and enhancement of operations and process is the main objective while supporting the continued growth of our business in Canada.

**CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary technical or management degree in a natural resource related field (environmental science, biology, ecology, geology, forestry, or geography) with a minimum of 15 years experience in environmental consulting or industry with experience in developing and growing teams
- Previous experience as a key team member in managing and executing environmental related projects is key
- Working knowledge of a range of environmental processes required to collect, evaluate and report on data associated with a range of technical disciplines (soil, water, air, vegetation)
- Proven experience in managing and growing a highly skilled team of environmental professionals
- Demonstrated ability to work at a management level to evaluate, assess, recommend and institute process improvement to support technical and non-technical teams.
- Excellent written, and verbal communication skills

**ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Quality and Technical Process Enhancement
- Work with Managers and key senior staff to establish a system to support technical competency evaluation and support technical growth and tracking of a range of key skill sets
- Drive enhancement of project management processes used by technical teams to improve efficiency, cost tracking, and technical quality of deliverables.
- Assess and be responsible for development and/or implementation of systems to streamline data collection, data management, and data recall- Identify and support hiring process for key technical staff members
- Drive development of Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for discipline-specific tasks
- Key contributor and driver of Vertex Learning Management System (LMS) associated with technical content to support team growth and development
- Collaborate with Vertex multidisciplinary teams for project execution to ensure client deliverables and expectations are addressed and meet client and regulatory standards
- Internal Operations
- Work with internal operations teams on improving efficiencies and enhancing service capabilities for technical teams
- Collaborate with Vertex’s corporate safety team to ensure alignment of operational activities with safe operations that meet Vertex’s and our clients safety policies and procedures
- Continuously assess and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness within the Technical Services department.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the department.
- Support and manage performance evaluation and assessment of technical staff to drive key performance indicator program for the Environment division
- Supervise, mentor, and provide support to staff under your care and control
- Evaluate current team needs with Senior Management to meet expected growth and Vertex initiatives
- Drive thought leadership and actively support technical staff in presenting at targeted conferences and symposiums
- Technical Requirements
- Working knowledge - understand, remain current, and ability to interpret environmental regulations, guidelines, and standards as required by Vertex and client base- Facilitate internal coordination of Vertex technical expertise with project managers and staff under you care and control
- Other duties as directed by your Senior Manager
