**Job Requirements
**Would you like to be an active stakeholder in a major modernization project? VIA Rail is about to change all its reservation platform for all its systems throughout Canada and is looking for a Business Intelligence Analyst who would like to play an important role in an autonomous, efficient, and competent team.

As a Business Intelligence Analyst, you will be responsible for creating value and insight for our internal and external customers by leveraging data to drive business transformation and business outcomes. Daily, you will be participating in a creative and agile multidisciplinary team to resolve business or technical challenges and building a data-driven culture by owning, shaping, and evolving BI / Analytics / Data at VIA within the Evolution team as well as on BI projects.

**What are the responsibilities of a Business Intelligence Analyst?**
- Liaise with the Business and the Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to drive requirements gathering, define scope, priorities and share plans.
- Assume accountability for business value creation by the defined BI / data product(s) within one or more data domains.
- Design and create insightful reports and visuals by integrating story telling techniques.
- Provide coaching and support to internal BI contributors to develop autonomy and raise BI maturity level.
- Work with the architecture team, the solution analysts, the security team, and the business, explore system improvements and future innovation, define and grow data governance practices and data management practices at VIA.
- Manage the release / implementation / support plans and commitments in line with sprints and users. Support users during the deployment of the solution.
- Participate in the development of documentation, peer reviews, acceptance tests, facilitative tools and training programs intended for users.

**Work Experience
**What experience are we looking for?**
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (or a related field).
- Masters in BI or equivalent (a definite asset)
- 5+years of experience in writing user stories / use cases, data modeling, and developing functional specifications or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with Microsoft Azure BI solutions (Data Factory, Power BI, Data Lake, etc), SSIS / SSRS or other equivalent technologies.
- Notions or experience with the following methodologies: star schema / dimensional modeling (Kimball)
- Knowledge of scripted language (SQL) and relational database management skills.

**Which competencies should you have as a Business Intelligence Analyst for this project?**
- Developed analytical skills, ability to resolve problems and attention to details.
- Ability to work in a hybrid Agile and Waterfall environment
- Familiar with ETL / ELT data extraction approaches
- Bilingual in English and French
- Statistics or mathematics knowledge (is an asset)
- Good information dashboard design (BI “story telling” : making the numbers talk and trigger constructive discussions)
- Knowledge or experience of Machine Learning and other IA concepts (is an asset)
- Microsoft and collaboration tools knowledge: O365, Teams, Azure DevOps, JIRA, EPM, etc.
- Excellent communication skills: capacity to adopt internal partners’ perspectives, provides constructive feedback, have frank discussions, to explains concepts in a clear and logical manner.
- Team player that can work collaboratively with members of various teams
- Capacity to prioritize the work to be done in order to maximize available resources / outcome (use of an iterative approach prioritizing based on user value).
