**Summary**

Point Hope Maritime is looking for a dedicated and qualified Environmental Advisor to join our team The Environmental Advisor’s role is to ensure personnel comply with company Environmental Management System requirements in line with objectives set by the HSSE Manager and regulatory requirements.

**Environmental Duties**:

- Perform assigned duties in accordance with this Position Description, and the Point Hope Maritime (PHM) HSSE Annual Activities Plan.
- Evaluate monthly status/performance of the company/project environmental objectives and targets.
- Prepare and submit monthly PHM water monitoring reports to the Capitol Regional District (Parks and Environmental Services - Regional Source Control Program).
- Prepare environmental method statements for approval by HSSE Manager, when required.
- Prepare environmental equipment and services requisitions for approval by HSSE Manager, as required.
- Maintain PHM’s Hazardous Chemicals Inventory and Safety Data Sheets (SDS) Register.
- Prepare and submit PHM’s Annual Environmental Objectives and Targets.
- Evaluate waste minimization program activities by workforce.
- Investigate and report on waste recycling opportunities.
- Collect and submit wastewater and projects solid waste materials samples for laboratory analysis.
- Participate in internal and external environmental audits conducted on company projects and property.
- Conduct environmental inspections per the PHM HSSE Annual Activity Plan.
- Control and maintain environmental emergency response equipment (e.g., spill kits).
- Monitor required pollution prevention measures. Report deviations to HSSE Manager.
- Advise Supervisors of identified unsafe environmental acts and conditions.
- Maintain a visible presence at worksites.
- Conduct periodic environmental walkthroughs and inspections.
- Monitor the results and quality of environmental risk assessments, hazards identification and trends analysis.
- Liaise with Governments on environmental matters as directed or required.
- Assess and report on government, PHM, and client environmental waste compliance.
- Participate in environmental audits conducted on company projects and property for which the Environmental Advisor has specific knowledge and experience.
- Conduct environmental inspections per the PHM HSSE Annual Activity Plan.
- Control and maintain environmental emergency response equipment (e.g., spill kits).

**Other Duties**:

- Perform Risk Management activities to support PHM’s operations (e.g., Atmospheric Testing, Field Level Hazard Assessment [FLHA]).
- Assist the Training Department for preparation of environmental training materials.
- Conduct effective HSSE Inductions and Orientations, as necessary.
- Perform Risk Management activities to support PHM’s operations (e.g., Permits-to-Work, Energy Isolation [Lock Out / Tag Out], Atmospheric Testing, Field Level Hazard Assessment [FLHA]).
- Participate in Accident / Incident Investigations when required.
- Provide BC Occupational First Aid Level 3 coverage to PHM site operations.
- Emergency Response Team (ERT) member.
- Maintain positive working relationships with line supervision, co-workers, clients, and others.
- Exercise the right to refuse unsafe work and obligation to stop any found.
- Act in a professional manner to protect the Company’s reputation with Governments, local business communities, and peoples with which PHM interacts.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time by the HSSE Manager.

**Minimum Experience and Education Requirements**:

- Minimum one (1) year Marine, Offshore or Shipyard Construction
- PHM Health, Safety, Security & Environment Officer 2, or equivalent
- Tertiary Certificate in Health and Safety
- BC Construction Safety Officer (CSO) Certificate or equivalent Environmental qualification.
- ‘Reliability’ Level - Canadian Industrial Security Directorate; Government of Canada.

**Environmental Advisor Skills & Proficiencies**:

- Flexible, with solid interpersonal skills.
- Able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently without little direct supervision.
- Ability to interpret marine vessel technical plans and specifications.
- Conduct in compliance with the Ralmax Group Code of Business Conduct.
- Earned authority by demonstrated honesty, integrity, and performance on the job.

**Environmental Advisor Work Conditions**:

- The standard work week is 40 hours (8 hours day/5 days per week). May include Saturday or Sunday scheduled work days.
- Indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Walking on rough surfaces; climbing up/down stairs and ladders; entering confined spaces; working at height.
- Travel to off-site locations may be required.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. (23 kg).
