We are looking for a motivated **Family Settlement Support Worker (Leave Coverage)** to join our Family Centre team

**POSITION FUNCTION**:

- Under the supervision of the Family Centre Manager, the Family Settlement Support Worker is responsible for providing culturally appropriate ECD and family focused settlement services to refugee children and their parents/caregivers in the Early Learning Orientation Program and/or the Preschool Orientation Program. The Family Support Worker ensures that the program goals and objectives are met by providing learning activities, monitoring, and support children’s developmental domains, and facilitating early learning Canadian parenting to caregivers. The Family Settlement Support Worker carries a small client caseload while working in cooperation with program staff and community partners to make appropriate referrals to external programs. He/she demonstrates a strong understanding towards cultural sensitivity, early childhood development and parenting settlement challenges. The Family Settlement Support Worker ensures that the program is inclusive and sensitive to the social, cultural, linguistic, and economic values of refugee families, who are in the process of integrating into the local community.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Knowledge of and experience with issues facing refugees; broad knowledge of early child development issues; and relevant community resources.
- Demonstrated facilitation skills in helping parents/caregivers and children acquire tools and skills by creating comfortable learning and discussion environments; recognizing diversity of opinions as strengths; avoiding making judgments and respecting and valuing parent/caregiver comments and insights.
- Early Child Education certificate and/or applied experience working with children 0-6 years and their families (e.g., child development, group facilitation, family support).
- Second language, an asset.
- Child Safe or First Aid Certificate.
- Food Safe Certification

**HOURS**:35 hours/week until **March 31, 2025**, with possibility of extension.
