We are looking for a Plumber Steamfitter to support our Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) branch. The Plumber Steamfitter would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The Real Property Planning and Management (RPPM) is responsible for operations and maintenance of approximately 65 facilities in the National Capital Region supporting research and development activities in a campus environment.

Reporting to the Mechanical Systems Team Lead, the Plumber Steam Fitter supports the continuing success and improvement of day-to-day operations repairing, servicing and installing services for a variety of plumbing, steam, heating and cooling systems. Maintenance activities are carried out as part of a regular preventive maintenance program as well as in response to emergency situations and malfunctions.

**Screening Criteria**:
**Education**:
Secondary School Diploma according to provincial standards.

Licensed Steamfitter 307A or an equivalent inter-provincial Red Seal Journeymen’s Certificate of Qualification.

**The following certifications or training might be considered as an asset**:

- Confined Space
- Designated Substances Awareness
- First Aid Level 1

**Experience**:

- Significant experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plumbing, steam, condensate, heating and ventilation systems including thorough inspection of steam traps, pumps, pressure and safety relief and control valves
- Basic experience providing estimate for the materials and repair work of pipe systems.
- Significant experience conducting daily facility walkthroughs for inspection and condition monitoring of equipment and all building systems
- Basic experience working with subcontractors and vendors on equipment repair and preventive maintenance program as required.
- Experience maintaining all work areas, tools, and equipment.
- Significant knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to the plumbing steam fitter trade

Must be able to possess and retain the physical capabilities to perform the position which include but may not be limited to: crouching, bending, twisting, walking, climbing stairs & ladders.

**Technical Competencies**:

- Solid working knowledge of servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing plumbing, heating and cooling distribution systems and equipment including steam traps, expansion joints, PRV’s, converters, heat exchangers condensate receivers and pumps.
- Solid working knowledge performing maintenance, repairs and alterations of steam, condensate, compressed gases, chilled water, and specialty mechanical distribution systems.
- Solid knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Solid understanding of tools, equipment, principles, materials, and terminology associated with the steam fitting/plumbing trade.
- Solid knowledge in the current versions of all applicable legislation, building regulations, codes and standards.
- Solid ability to interpret and work from electronic/written operation instruction sheets as well as mechanical electrical and geographical drawings/maps and produce quick-sketch working diagrams
- Solid ability to identify options, develop solutions, and take action when responding to customer requests.
