**Overview**

**Position**: Lab researcher

**Division**: Technology Development

**Location**: Guelph, ON

**Compensation**: $25 - $30 per hour

**Background**

In response to the positive uptake by the mining industry, EKS is expanding its technical team. EKS is looking for a dynamic researcher who is interested in being a key part of the commercialisation and further development of the EKS-DT Process.

**Responsibilities**

EKS is seeking a Researcher to support the design of commercial installations of the EKS-DT process. The Researcher will report to the Senior Manager, Technology Development.

The responsibilities of the researcher will include:

- Conceive, test and implement new improvements to the EKS-DT Process,
- Conceive, test and implement new improvements to the other EKS processes,
- Work with other EKS team members to undertake and document lab and field research to test new improvements to these processes,
- Analyze the research results and adjust the innovations based on these results,
- Develop detailed designs and specifications for commercial EKS-DT installations,
- Communicate with vendors to procure materials and services,
- Prepare technical reports for EKS-DT installations,
- Working with other engineers and researchers to complete project tasks,
- Collaborate with clients to collect necessary project information and
- Maintain a safe, clean and orderly workspace.

- Ability to forecast and adhere to project budgets and schedules,
- Proven technical writing skills,
- Proven oral communication skills including the effective use of PowerPoint for clients and large audiences and
- Safe and responsible work habits.

**Education and Experience**

Following are the minimum education and experience requirements.
- A degree in mining, mechanical, chemical, environmental, or civil engineering or related discipline,
- At least 3 years of industry experience,
- Legal authorization to work in Canada without the need for sponsorship and
- Eligible to be bonded.

**Other Experience**

Experience with the following will be highly useful:

- Laboratory research
- The physics of, and modelling soil/tailings dewatering, consolidation and stabilization
- Contaminated soil remediation
- Life cycle analysis including economic and environmental factors
- Engineering cost estimating
- Written and oral fluency in Spanish is an asset

**Application Requirements**

- Produce and present a virtual Power Point presentation on a technical topic of your choice in English.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability

- Bachelor's Degree (required)
