**Job Title**:Financial Analyst**

**Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Hybrid)**

**Duration: 9 Months Contract (Possibility of Extension)**

**Position Overview**

**Key Responsibilities**

**- Compliance Reviews: Conduct Accounting Officer (AO) type compliance reviews, providing thorough financial analysis and strategies for addressing errors and irregularities.**

**- Special Financial Reviews: Perform sensitive financial reviews, including investigations into employee theft and personal use of P-Cards.**

**- Financial Expertise and Reporting: Provide financial expertise, perform detailed financial analysis, and report findings to various stakeholders.**

**- Stakeholder Support: Serve as a financial resource, offering advice and information to Expenditure Officers, program staff, and other ministry stakeholders responsible for financial processes and analysis.**

**- Decision Support: Assist stakeholders with decision-making by providing comprehensive financial analysis and business advice.**

**- Adaptability and Learning: Continuously learn and adapt to the various integrated management/financial information systems used across the Ministry, including accommodating frequent upgrades and new system implementations.**

**Must Have Qualifications**

**- Knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian public sector accounting standards or equivalent.**

**- 3 years: Experience with and knowledge of financial reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance.**

**- 3 years: Experience working in accounting systems, creating processes, managing budgets, and financial analysis.**

**- 3 years: Relevant experience in a role similar to this, applicable to the responsibilities outlined.**

**- 1 year: Experience with process improvement, documentation, and requirement gathering.**

**- 1 year: Experience working with Information Technology accounting and processes.**

**- 3 years: Strong analytical, decision-making, and organizational skills.**

**- Experience working in or for the public sector**

**Nice to Have Qualifications**

**Pursuing or have CPA designation.**

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: $20.00-$38.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36.25 per week
