Regional Education Consultant - Respiratory Therapy (RT)

The Regional Education Consultant (REC-RT) is a professional role model and resource person for staff and other members of the interprofessional health care team, utilizing a hub and spoke model for a defined geographic area. The REC-RT provides education and skills training to members of the interprofessional team (within educator scope) working in adult critical care. The Consultant is accountable for developing, facilitating, implementing, and evaluating professional educational opportunities for regional partner hospitals (e.g. training in new technology, medications and procedures for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives based on patient population). In addition, the Consultant will also develop, support, implement and evaluate quality improvement initiatives based on both regional and provincial direction/requests. In partnership with the Regional Critical Care Educator - Nursing (RCCE-RN), the REC-RT will facilitate critical care education and skills training to hospital corporations with less than 9 critical care beds or for sites that provide pre-transport stabilization care until transfer can be completed to a higher level of care at LHSC. The REC-RT will work with the Ontario Health Region and Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO) to define the supported spoke sites. The expectation will be that 90% of the time, the REC-RT role will be focused on the provision of clinical education for recipient hospitals, and 10% on administrative activities and coordination.

Regular Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $46.46 per hour - $58.07 per hour

Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Successful completion of a Master’s Degree in a health discipline recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act
- Current Certificate of Registration as a Respiratory Therapy recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) preferred
- Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
- Training in adult education preferred
- Current registration with applicable professional College required
- Minimum four (4) years recent leadership experience
- Minimum two (2) years Critical Care experience in Level 3 Critical Care unit
- A valid Ontario driver’s license (G class), use of a vehicle, and current insurance coverage
- Ability to travel within the Ontario Health West Region
- Advanced knowledge of and experience with professional practice and program development tools
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, team building and conflict management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to network effectively with other disciplines
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize fluctuating workload demands
- Advanced ability to assess clinical competency and facilitate development of learning plan
- Proficient Microsoft Office Skills as well as online literature searches
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
- Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
- Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

**Immunization Requirements**:

- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing (two step) and COVID vaccine series.
