**Program Consultant**:
**Primary Purpose**: Reporting to the Associate Director, CPDPP, the Program Consultant supports the creation, review, coordination, and delivery of harm reduction workshop sessions for Saskatchewan healthcare providers. This position will work in close collaboration with the CPDPP Projects and Evaluation Manager.

**Nature of Work**: Continuing Professional Development for Pharmacy Professionals (CPDPP) is based in the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition, University of Saskatchewan. CPDPP develops, implements, supports, and evaluates continuing education and continuing professional development opportunities for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals. CPDPP often collaborates on continuing education courses with other health organizations and partners.

The CPDPP _Harm Reductions: Learning and Connections (HRLC) _project offers single-day workshop sessions facilitated by a small group of healthcare providers and people with lived experiences of substance use. The goal of HRLC is to offer training and support for providers to strengthen care that: (a) is compassionate, person-centred, and non-stigmatizing; (b) uses shared decision-making with an evidence-based harm reduction approach; and (c) is safe and accessible for people who use substances.

The Program Consultant will work as an essential member of the CPDPP _Harm Reductions: Learning and Connections_ project team to substantively contribute to the design and delivery of harm reduction education through the lens of a healthcare provider. This position requires a flexible mindset and an in-depth knowledge of harm reduction as a philosophy of care. The incumbent will be required to work independently, but also in a team environment and across multidisciplinary boundaries.

The successful applicant will function with a high level of independence, decision-making, and accountability. This position requires short, medium, and long-term planning. Work with CPDPP requires the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while balancing competing deadlines and multi-tasking. Travel will be required (to support the educational delivery of approximately seven workshop sessions), as is attendance at occasional evening and weekend events.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Develop written content, learning activities, and presentations on harm reduction for healthcare providers.
- Attend and deliver educational workshop sessions for healthcare providers.
- Facilitate and lead challenging conversations about harm reduction as a philosophy of care.
- Implement feedback from evaluations into current and future workshop sessions.
- Ensure that learning content and activities meet project grant objectives.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director.

Qualities and assets:

- Experience in a healthcare setting with direct patient care.
- Strong interest in adult education.
- Strong knowledge about harm reduction as a philosophy of care.
- Strong knowledge of the political landscape and practical barriers to implementing harm reduction as a philosophy of care within Saskatchewan.
- Thoughtful about the educational needs and requirements for healthcare providers with direct patient care.
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Detail-oriented.
- Ability to manage and support multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communicate clearly with a keen attitude towards collaboration.
- Lifelong learner with a desire to continue upgrading skills and abilities.
- Possess a high degree of professionalism.
- Innovative and creative when determining plans of action/strategies.
- Experience working with Indigenous organizations, and expertise and knowledge of Indigenous communities in Saskatchewan and across Canada is an asset.
- Lived or living experience with substance use is an asset.

**Qualifications**

**Experience**: One to three years of experience in healthcare delivery with a harm reduction focus. Previous experience in educational development or delivery is an asset in this role.

- Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to navigate challenging conversations.
- Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organization, time management and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and engage in long-term planning.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a flexible and changing work environment. Must be highly reliable and display self-motivation and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and deliver educational content is an asset.
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders in a healthcare setting is an asset.
