Junior Machine Operator

**Description**:
**The Role**
They call you a machine. In reality, you mostly run machines. Several at a time, in fact. The nickname comes from the fact that you treat every day as a race against yourself. Every personal best is a challenge to overcome - typically by the time your next shift rolls around. When you first started, you were producing six hundred units per day. Now? Over a thousand. The self-improvement is satisfaction enough, but the real icing on the cake? It's the fact that everything you create ultimately feeds the demands of our millions of adoring cult-like fans. That's what gets you out of bed in the morning. You're not a machine, you just seem like one. In reality, you're a Production Specialist at dbrand.
Does the above paragraph describe you? Of course not. You don't work here... yet. We can change that. Who you are is irrelevant. What we care about is who you'll be, when given the tools, knowledge, and agency that will enable you to succeed. We need motivated, adaptable, and dedicated individuals who are committed to excellence, so that we can mold them into the Production Specialists of tomorrow. If that's not you, save us all some time and close this tab. If you're still with us... maybe that first paragraph describes you after all.
**The Environment**
You know the phrase, "business in the front, party in the back?" dbrand's HQ is organized in the same way. This party's a little different though: instead of drinks, chips, and music, there's industrial-grade printers, lamination machines, and the sweet sounds of flatbed plotters. There's usually music too.
Picture a meticulously-organized, clean, modern warehouse. Inside, there are tens of thousands of inventory bins, each containing the huge array of products you're creating in-house. Behind these bins, nestled in the back, you find yourself in dbrand's production space. Dozens of machines are working at a record clip, powered by workstations like the one you're sitting at. This is where the magic happens.
**The Characteristics**:
- **Agile**: You’re nimble. You’re adaptable. You thrive in an environment where priorities can change in an instant.
- **Analytical**: Your decisions are driven by only one thing: data. You continue to master all the tools necessary to surface insights.
- **Collaborative**: You enjoy purposeful meetings. You value the contributions of your coworkers as much as those of your CEO.
- **Curious**: You’re eager to learn new concepts and master new skills. There’s no useless tool in your arsenal.
- **Disciplined**: You never allow the details to slip, understanding that every bit of minutiae forms the bigger picture.
- **Enthusiastic**: You exhibit a contagious passion for quality and precision in order to provide standout customer experiences.
- **Innovative**: You develop new approaches to complex problems.
- **Perfectionist**: You persist until the smallest detail has been optimized. You know nothing less than 100%.
- **Persistent**: You’ve never failed. You’ve only experienced speed bumps on your path to success.
- **Reliable**: You live up to both verbal and written agreements. You can be trusted to work effectively, without oversight.
**The Responsibilities and Qualifications**:
In order to make a positive impact as part of our team, your focus in this role will be to:
- Learn and gain an understanding of the Production Schedule and how to send products to machines for production.
- Train and operate on Plotter and Flatbed machines.
- Gain basic knowledge of materials, custom material make up, and SKU building.
- Perform quality checks before, during, and post production.
- Excel both individually and as part of the larger team to achieve departmental goals.
In addition, talented Production Specialists may be required to:
- Have basic CorelDRAW knowledge, in order to create and maintain weeding guides.
- Test and cut skins for internal and external use (photoshoot, influencers, tutorial videos etc.).
- Skin devices with extreme precision and accuracy.
- Assist with influencer shipment coordination.
If you find a box you can’t check, stop reading and look for a company who demands less from their Production team.
- Dexterity, resulting in speed while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to lift and maneuver material rolls up to 60” in length and 50 lbs in weight.
- Considerable working memory.
- Ability to multitask.
- An impeccable communication style - you have exceptional and proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present in a compelling and concise manner.
- Highly detail oriented, self sufficient, resourceful, organized and proactive.
- The instinct to help teammates thrive and the openness to learn from their experience.
- The ability to solve complex problems (or know what to ask Google).
