Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Advisor: Anti-Racism and Equity Education

Primary Responsibilities:

- Supports the University’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion and the educational mandate of the Equity team in the Office of the Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) by conceptualizing, preparing, and delivering sustainable educational programs and tools in order to increase staff, and faculty awareness and capacity relating to EDI issues and goals;
- Identifies, assesses, and responds to ongoing challenges relating to equity, diversity, and inclusion on both campuses and generate learning goals accordingly;
- Conceptualizes, prepares, and delivers regularly scheduled and made-to-measure trainings for a variety of audiences with a primary focus on McGill academic and non-academic staff
- Regularly assesses, evaluates, and revises training/educational programs, in order to meet changing conditions on both campuses;
- Collaborates with the Equity team to establish and nurture networks and relationships within the McGill community with other groups/individuals who have equity mandates and responsibilities (e.g. Human Resources, Teaching and Learning Services, Student Services, University Services, etc.) and collaborate with them as necessary to integrate equity supports across campus;
- Develops and disseminates communications that will support the educational functions of the Equity team, including web-based resources, brochures, promotional materials, videos, and materials in other formats;
- Plans and organizes activities in support of equity educational goals such as outreach and access programming, public lectures and conferences, campaigns, employee resource groups, etc;
- Leads the annual organizing of Queer History Month in collaboration with relevant University partners
- Uses an equity lens to provide advising and problem-solving support to faculty, managers, administrators, and University employees who seek to enhance their processes, programs, policies, and functions;
- Represents the University on relevant internal and external committees, and act as a resource and advisor to other groups across campus;
- Supports the work of the Senior Advisor: Anti-Racism and Equity Education in developing and reviewing equity education programs for all relevant employee groups.
- Works in close consultation with Equity Team staff responsible for the oversight and implementation of University policies and plans such as the Policy on Harassment and Discrimination and the EDI Strategic Plan to support the development of strategies that raise awareness and enhance effectiveness.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- A minimum of two years of related experience and an undergraduate degree in a related field (e.g., philosophy, sociology, political science, history) or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
- Sophisticated knowledge of EDI concepts and deep understanding of the focus of challenges faced by LGBTQ2S+ members of the University community, particularly knowledge through lived experience
- Expertise and prior experience in areas of sexual, gender, and/or cultural diversity, human rights, social justice and/or other themes related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including an ability to effectively build and maintain relationships
- Strong research and analytical abilities
- Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting effective training programs
- Strong organizational skills, including setting priorities, problem-solving and results-oriented
- Proven ability to manage and develop projects both autonomously and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the University context and the McGill environment in particular
- Ability to communicate in both French and English an asset
