Peterborough, Canada Four Counties Addiction Services Team Inc. Full time

Four Counties Addiction Services Team (Fourcast) is a community-based addiction treatment service provider that strives to provide the highest quality of evidence-based addiction treatment and case management services. Fourcast offers services across 5 sites in the region. The community treatment program staff work in-office and community settings and are often co-located and integrated with other organizations to reduce barriers for those accessing services.

**About The Position...**

**This is a full time 15mth contract position.**

The Early Access Service (EAS) is Fourcast’s community withdrawal management program that provides best practice interventions for withdrawal management supports (community and links to residential options), using evidence-based tools to screen, assess and make support recommendations based on service user’s acute withdrawal needs. EAS works within a collaborative team that provides nursing assessment, early recovery counselling, and case management supports to navigate personal, or system issues that present barriers for those initiating substance use change.

EAS provides the first point of contact for those seeking support from Fourcast related to their substance use concerns. Services are provided to people under the influence of alcohol and/or other substances, in active withdrawal, and/or in crisis with a high risk of relapsing. The EAS counsellor works within a collaborative team, including nurse, with a primary focus to support service users who want to make changes to their substance use. This may include reducing use, abstinence, supported tapering plans or medically assisted withdrawal through approved programs or consultation with primary care. This level of care may be provided with or without drug therapy or other medical interventions.

The EAS counsellor will provide support in-person, virtually, and through home or community visits. Service users are supported through early stages of withdrawal and recovery by the EAS team and connected for longer term supports of community addiction treatment or residential treatment as required.
