Work will be done under the supervision of scientists at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Ottawa Research and Development Centre. Frequent communication with scientists and progress updates will be expected.

**Education**:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by September 1, 2024 in a PhD program in a recognized post-secondary academic institution with specialization in Earth Sciences or Environmental Sciences.
Degree equivalency
Experience:
Experience* in laboratory methods characterizing carbon in organic or agricultural residues.
Experience* in analyzing data and writing manuscripts for publication.
Experience* in laboratory analysis of samples, following lab protocols, and record keeping.
- In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public service, the experience can be acquired through studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.

Knowledge of agricultural greenhouse gas emissions.
Knowledge of agricultural methane emissions and linkage between carbon cycling, anaerobic metabolism, and methane production in livestock manure management.

Ability to work in laboratory setting, and conduct experiments.
Ability to operate sensors including optical sensors, gas chromatography, and wet chemistry.

Ability to use statistical analysis.
Ability to present results to AAFC scientists through written reports, scientific articles, and oral presentations.

**Conditions of employment**:
