**ARE YOU LOOKING FOR AN AMAZING OUTDOOR JOB OPPORTUNITY?**

Come join us Our **Outdoor Trip Guides **are responsible for safely introducing students to the idea of “living” outdoors in the Canadian wilderness at Appleby’s McLaughlin Northern Campus on Lake Temagami. Appleby’s Outdoor Education program has been providing outdoor fun and adventure for our students for over 50 years. Our focus is placed on experiences that lead to personal growth and character development. Our understanding staff helps guide our students through enriching experiences that allow each individual to develop long-lasting attributes. These qualities include responsibility, confidence, integrity, resilience, and the ability to work with others, all of which, we feel, contribute to the growth of one’s person.

The program begins at our Oakville Campus, where students spend valuable time with our instructors getting acquainted and preparing for their trip to Rabbitnose Island, the location of our Outdoor Education Center. The group will then travel north via coach to Lake Temagami, approximately 500km north of Toronto. The trip provides the students with opportunities to gain valuable knowledge about themselves, others in their group, and the wilderness surrounding them. Throughout the trip, students will receive instruction in a variety of winter wilderness skills. Snowshoeing, wilderness navigation with a map and compass, outdoor cooking, and camping skills are the focus of the instruction. The emphasis is placed on the responsibility that each individual has for self-care as well as the importance of a team. Rabbitnose is home to our Main Lodge; constructed over 80 years ago, it provides our students with a true taste of the area’s rich history. Cabins for students and staff, the “trip-sheds” (equipment storage), activity centers, boathouse, and sauna complete the list of buildings on the property.
