The Therapeutic Support Worker will provide assistance to vulnerable persons with complex needs, behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and/or other related issues. The Therapeutic Support Worker provides supervision, personal care, support, and structure to the students in the learning environment. The Therapeutic Support Worker communicates with group living, clinical, and education staff to create a safe, structured, and comfortable learning environment.

**Qualifications**

**Education and Professional Certification**
- Completion of a high school diploma.
- An educational assistant, youth care worker, rehabilitation worker, continuing care assistant certificate or diploma, or certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field of study is an asset.

**Experience**
- Up to one (1) year of experience working with children, youth, and/or adults with behavioral, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges.
- Experience as an educational assistant, job coach, or youth care worker is an asset.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

**Services**
- Provide supervision, care, and support to vulnerable persons with complex needs, behavioral issues, developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and/or other related issues.
- Provide a safe and adaptive environment where participants with exceptionalities can learn meaningful functional life and vocational skills.
- Participate in planning and programming in collaboration with the program manager or teacher.
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education/vocational plans and programming.
- Monitor and guide participants’ behavior and progress.
- Assist the participants in achieving their education/vocational goals.
- Communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Seek out information on community resources of benefit to participants.
- Resolve conflicts and respond to crisis situations in a calm and patient manner.
- Administer medications to participants when required.
- Transport participants as required.
- Document all incidents and updates such as; critical incidents, medication administration, and any other updates. Complete reports and documentation clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
- Provide personal care as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Leadership**
- Display positive role modelling, agency values, and fairness.
- Collaborate with and communicate to the multidisciplinary team when required.
- Management of Resources
- Submit receipts and reconcile expenses for approved expenditures.
- Ensure mileage log is completed accurately when agency vehicle is used.
- Ensure care, cleanliness, and maintenance of assigned assets and resources including; building(s), vehicles(s), furnishings, and equipment.

**Safety**
- Maintain, promote, and reinforce safe work habits, practices, and procedures.
- Adhere to written or verbal agency and government regulations, policies, practices, and instructions.

**Additional Requirements**
- The incumbent is responsible for completing all mandatory training requirements for the position as per agency policy and guidelines.
- Employees must hold a class five (5) novice two (2) or higher drivers license and be eligible for coverage under our commercial auto insurance policy.

Wage range: $23.09 to 29.85 per hour.
