Motion Graphics Animator

Halifax, Nova Scotia (In-studio preferred, remote considered)

Full-time, 6-month contract with option to renew

The job:
Assist the creative team by producing professional quality, animation-ready vector/raster artwork and storyboards in a wide variety of styles, as well as taking on animation projects and related tasks as required.

You will need:

- 3+ years professional experience working on client projects, preferably including experience working in a studio or agency setting.
- You must have the ability to interpret client scripts and briefs and translate them into visual ideas.
- Excellent drawing skills with an eye for detail, composition, colour and layout with a diverse portfolio showcasing a wide range of appealing creative styles, with an emphasis on 2D vector design and animation.
- The ability to create engaging and imaginative content quickly and efficiently starting with sketched storyboards and fleshing them out into compelling 2D characters, environments and props ready for animation in After Effects.
- A clear understanding of how to create and prepare layered artwork in Illustrator/Photoshop for animation in After Effects.
- Willingness to take direction and address feedback responsively.
- Ability to stay organized and communicate clearly and professionally in a timely fashion.
- Desire and willingness to learn and grow.

Software skills:
Illustrator and Photoshop - expert level.

After Effects - intermediate level or higher.

Nice to have:
Frame by frame animation, cell animation skills (i.e., Adobe Animate, Toon Boom)

Some 3D modeling and animation skills in Cinema 4D or similar software.
