**Requirements**:

- Possess a strong science-based academic training along with good technical skills and an eye for detail to be a research scientist / analytical chemist.
- As an analytical chemist, able use a diverse range of methods to investigate the chemical nature of substances / materials. The aim will be to establish accurate, sensitive, simple, fast and eco-friendly quality control methods and effective & efficient production processing methods.
- The exact role can vary depending on the setting. At times, full involvement will be required throughout the product development process. This would include studying the physical or chemical properties of NHP raw materials and formulations, with a view to determining the quality and stability of NHPs.

**Responsibilities**

As an analytical chemist, the tasks can vary, but typically need to:

- Perform routine maintenance of equipment and daily quality control testing of analytical methods.
- Calibrate laboratory equipment according to maintenance schedules.
- Analyze samples from various sources to provide information on the identity and quality.
- Use analytical techniques and instrumentation, such as GC and HPLC, ion chromatography, electrochromatography and spectroscopy (infrared and ultraviolet, amongst others)
- Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Prepare standards, reagents, and solvents for experiments.
- Prepare reports identifying samples, explaining testing methods, documenting findings, and outlining conclusions of analyses.
- Design and execute experimental procedures, including qualitative and quantitative testing of complex samples.
- Validate and troubleshoot analytical methods.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee laboratory analyses for compliance actions, emergency response, site studies, health and safety studies, investigations, and remediation.
- Select methods and laboratory procedures and schedule, conduct, and supervise analytical tests.
- Supervise technical staff.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum B.Sc. in Chemistry or other related science with 1 year QC chemistry testing experience in Nutraceutical/Pharmaceutical Industry.
- Experience working in a GLP environment/commercial laboratory an asset.
- Familiarity with Analytical Wet Chemistry techniques preferred.
- Experience performing analytical tests utilizing HPLC and UV-Vis
- Familiarity with analytical method validation, verification and data interpretation preferred.
- Experience in troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability to complete tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organization skills.
- Detail-oriented and ability to multitask.

Practical experience of working in a laboratory environment or pharmaceutical industry is desirable.
