**Multicultural Victim Services Outreach Worker - English & Arabic Speaking**:
DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society Surrey, BC

**Responsibilities include**:

- Provides emotional and practical support to clients who have been victims of domestic violence or historical abuse;
- Support capacity-building through focusing on the client’s strengths, assets, and resilience;
- Complete client intake that includes assessment of the impacts of crime on the client, pressing needs, and the client’s goals;
- Assess client’s need for other services and makes appropriate referrals to other community service agencies, counsellors, legal aid lawyers, physicians and mental health services;
- Provides crisis response and intervention as needed;
- Liaise with the police and Crown Counsel, obtaining information about client cases;
- Provide information on system, services, and crime prevention;
- Provides court support services, as well as accompaniment to court, police and medical appointments.

**Mandatory Qualifications**:

- Degree or Diploma in a related human/social service field;
- Two years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
- Fluency in Arabic
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Experience facilitating groups;
- Skills and knowledge on issues related to family conflict and violence;
- Skills and knowledge working with immigrant, refugee, and ethno-cultural communities;
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and independently;
- Occupational First Aid is an asset;
- Class 5 BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.

This position requires union membership. A Criminal Record Check is a requirement of employment.
