**Position**: Sessional Lecturer I (1 position available)

**Course title and code**: APS1025H: Infrastructure Protection

**Course description**: A fully integrated protection scheme is necessary to efficiently implement an Infrastructure Resilience Plan to assure operational survival following a catastrophic event. Building on the first principles of security integration and fortifications practice, illustrated with case studies through history, the students explore site security surveys, different tools, mitigation methods and models in common use and the assumptions and technology behind them in order to make informed decisions on how to approach and solve an infrastructure protection problem for the full range of event types. This is then practised in partnership with industry, analysing real security integration issues for real clients, to whom the students will present their protection schemes.

**Salary**:Minimum level of pay is $9,457.89 (Sessional Lecturer I), which includes vacation pay, and may increase depending on applicant’s level of experience and suitability for the position.

**Qualifications**: Applicants must have extensive knowledge of the role of infrastructure, strategy, and the evolution and purpose of protection. The applicant must have a strong understanding of the importance of integration and coordination of the initiatives in sustainability, security and protection. The applicant must also have an understanding of the importance of balance between protection and resilience, as it relates to the effective protection of the operation that the infrastructure facilitates. Additionally, the applicant must have experience with the implementation of a Resilience Plan, the associated Security Integration Scheme, and analyzing the broader risk context. The applicant must be familiar with using a first principles approach and the various survey and integration tools. Applicants should have a strong record of presenting lectures. The applicant must be able to lecture in a clear voice, and explain concepts clearly.

**Brief description of duties**: Duties include: preparation of lectures and course materials; delivery of lectures; possible supervision of Teaching Assistants; setting and marking of projects, tests and exams; evaluation of final grades; contact with students.
