Squamish, Canada The Great Canadian Landscaping Company Ltd. Full time

The Great Canadian Landscaping Company (GCLC) is looking for a Landscape Technician with strong knowledge of landscape working environments including lawn and garden maintenance, landscape installation and construction. Details of the position as follows:

- Term of employment: full time, indeterminate
- Salary and weekly hours: $30-40 per hour at 40 hours/week

- Location of work: various locations - Mainly Sea to Sky Cooridor and some projects within the Lower Mainland
- Language of work: English

This position will be responsible for the following duties:

- Assist the Project manager or Foreperson with the execution of landscape construction and gardens/landscaped installations
- Assist with planning, construction and installation of landscaped environments which may include lawns, trees, shrubberies, lawns, fences, decks, patios and other landscape structures.
- Assist with managing safety, quality and productivity of work at sites and/or shop/yard
- Assist in the preparation of jobsites prior to the beginning of a project
- Read and interpret, drawings, and specifications to delegate/complete work activities
- When required, oversee the day-to-day work activities of a landscape construction crew of 2 to 6 employees
- Delegate job tasks to appropriate crew members to assist in the completion of landscape constructions when required
- Operate various tools and equipment, including heavy equipment, cut-off saws, jackhammers, laser levels, measurement equipment, shovels, hammers, drills, etc.
- Construction of walls, walkways, fences, etc.
- Move and transport materials using shovels, wheelbarrows, carts, dollies, and manual lifting
- Perform other manual duties to clean and maintain landscaped environments, shop, and equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on tools and equipment by conducting inspections, lubricating, and cleaning on a daily basis
- Complete electronic timesheets for all crew members when required
- Wear appropriate personal protection equipment at all times
- Comply with all company policies and regulations
- Maintain and enforce standards of cleanliness and organization in assigned trucks, trailers, equipment, jobsites, and shop/yard areas
- Ensure that all work activities are carried out in a safe and efficient manner, and that all crew members are in compliance with government and company PPE standards
- Enforce and work in accordance with all local health and safety laws and regulations at shop/yard and on jobsites
- Assist with ongoing Employee training
- Communicate with customers in a polite and courteous manner
- Minimum of 2-3 years' experience in the landscape maintenance/ construction industry
- Post Secondary Education an Asset
- Competent in the use of power tools (cut-off saws, plate tampers, jackhammers, skill saws, sod cutter, drills, etc.) in a safe and responsible manner
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Speak, read, and write English
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Time management skills
- Knowledge of specific materials, methods, tools and equipment required to complete various landscape/ construction practices
- Physically fit with strong stamina
- Basic measurement and calculation skills
- Ability to follow safe working procedures
- Excellent observation skills and a strong attention to detail
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work both independently with little supervision, and as part of a team
- Carry and use a smart phone or data-enabled device for communication and reporting
- Valid driver’s license an asset
- Ability to access various project locations by personal transportation if required

**Salary**: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
