**Job Summary**:

- Deliver open source services such as acquisitions, cataloguing, serials management, and information desk reference work.
- Provide service to clients by discussing, analyzing and determining the exact nature of their needs and objectives, using various internal and external systems and databases.
- Analyze open source holdings such as books, electronic documents, websites, etc., and create and maintain accurate cataloguing records in the online integrated library system according to international, national and local standards.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding the acquisitions of publications in all formats (electronic, multimedia, and print) by evaluating, deciding and completing the acquisition transactions.
- Administer the delivery of external open source information by troubleshooting the conversion to be compatible with the corporate systems and databases prior to downloading in various file formats to be imported to the corporate system.
- Create and monitor loan and serial control records in the circulation database by performing client registration, check-in, checkout, renewal, overdue, damaged or lost internal and external library material and by sending messages for missing items.
- Respond to special requests for materials required from external institutions by determining locations of documents, contacting other libraries, and identifying the appropriate format to be borrowed and delivered (e.g., print, electronic, etc.).
- Establish and maintain procedures by providing guidance and training to colleagues.
- Lifting of heavy items may be required (boxes and equipment under 10 kg).

**Education**:
**Level 06**
- Community College Library and Information Technology Diploma and two (2) years related experience*

**Underfill Level 05**
- Community College Library and Information Technology Diploma and one (1) year-related experience*

**Note**:

- The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.
- Any higher level of education in a related field of study could be recognized as experience.
- **Underfill Level 05**: The successful applicant will need to follow a developmental plan to reach the full level of the position. Hence, the successful applicant will initially be appointed to the position of a level 05 ($57,960 - $70,500), until they reach the full-working level where they will qualify for the level 06 position ( $65,460 - $79,640). Inability to meet the objective of the developmental plan will result in the employee staying at the level 05.
- Experience as a Library Technician or Information Specialist in a library, records management, or information centre environment.
- Two (2) years’ experience working in a client services environment
- Experience in the use of library or information or records management automated systems.
