**Job Description**:
**Scope of the Position**

The Product Distribution Operator/Switchman is a member of the Day Operations crew and is responsible for working with rail cars including shop work, paperwork, and preparation of rail cars.

**What You Need To Be Successful**
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Rail and tank car maintenance experience required
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Proven ability to work with limited supervision
- Physical ability to stoop, lift, stretch and stand as required for the performance of the job duties both indoors and outdoors
- Meet the Railway Safety Medical Fitness for Duty requirements
- Must be able to wear all required PPE including a full face mask respirator or SCBA when required
- Ability to work rotating day time shifts of 4 on, 4 off, 5 on, 3 off, including weekend work, is required

***Key Responsibilities**
- Shop work - fill and dump rail cars, valve change-outs, tank car shop paperwork (all regulatory requirements of the Quality Program)
- Operation of the blow-down line for prepping chlorine cars for loading or shop
- Rail car preparation for maintenance and testing
- Assist with barge/ship chemical and salt loading and/or unloading
- Prepare safe work permits and lockouts in area of responsibilities
- Operate dock disposal system during hours of work as required
- Assist with hydrostatic testing requirements in loading area
- Provide confined space entry watch and rescue as required
- Perform rail switching operations as part of the train crew
- Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time

**Physical Job Demands**
