Anova is a non-profit organization in London, Ontario operating within a feminist model. Anova provides shelter, advocacy, support and education in an effort to better serve survivors of abuse and sexual violence.

This position is partially funded by Service Canada Summer Jobs program.

**To be eligible** **under this grant applicants must meet all requirements**: _**(1) is between 15 to 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment; (2) has a valid SIN; (3) is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations; (4) and is a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act [S.C. 2001, c. 27] **_**(International students, and those who are here in Canada on a work, youth, or visitor visa/permit are not eligible for the program. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents).**

Participate (with volunteers and staff) in the delivery of a summer activity and recreation program that enhances the quality of life for residents and tenants of Anova

Ideal Requirements and Experience:

- A combination of post-secondary education and experience related to working with children
- Familiar with the effects on children of witnessing violence
- Experience working with groups of diverse children in a safe environment
- Energy and enthusiasm to provide safe and fun activities for children
- Familiar with diversity issues and the value it brings to the workplace
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team that includes volunteers and staff
- Knowledge of agency security and safety procedures
- Well-developed computer skills
- A feminist perspective

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Provide safe and fun recreation and childcare at all 3 sites
- Plan and conduct age appropriate activities with children
- Ensuring safety of the children and youth both inside and on outings
- Responding to the needs of children and youth from broad age ranges
- Functioning well in a team-oriented work environment
- Monitoring recreation supplies and inventory; including responsibility for maintenance, and clean-up
- Entering information into the database & research into local resources through internet
- Support of ‘other’ staff (kitchen, admin, custodial) in times of low activity with children
- Provide written recommendations for future summers

**Hours of Work and Wages**:

- Start June 17th, 2024; 30 hours per week for 9 weeks
- Mainly days with some evenings and weekends
- Rate of pay $16.55 per hour plus 6% vacation pay
- Transportation required to work at 4 sites easily and with flexibility within the workday
